We had the good fortune of connecting with Don Jante and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Don, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the FnP success is my wonderful and beautiful wife Angie, my four awesome kids and the entire FnP team that is with us today and the one’s from yesteryears.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Flip ‘n Patties is a brand trying to bring happiness to everyone by sharing Filipino flavors and culture. We are a people who love to serve and feed people. We infuse Filipino flavors in all different kinds of cuisine, from burgers to tacos to rice plates.
Quality and price has always been our challenge. How can we serve the best quality at a reasonable price. Sometimes we miss the mark and a lot of people say we are expensive. We want to stay true to our values and use meats that are not processed and use products that are more eco friendly than foam and plastics. We look more for future benefits than the bottom line. Which sometimes is hard to balance because we know we have to stay in business. The combat this, we try to serve our guest with extraordinary service. We care. We care for our FnP team, we care for our guest, we care for our community and we care for the future of mother earth.
It’s a tough journey, however a worthy cause is always worth the work.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a difficult question, because I don’t go out much. I would definitely bring them to Flip ‘n Patties, China Town, Asia Town and maybe the Heights. In Houston all we have is eating 🤣
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, Jesus Christ for leading us. Shoutout Angie, my wife and my kids Baby Don, Aleiah, Devyn and Amilio for keeping me grounded. Shoutout to my Mom, Cora for showing me the Filipino ways of cooking. To all my extended family for all the support. Shoutout to the FnP team especially Adrian, Vicente, Cesar and Jimmy for holding it down throughout the years. Shoutout the Entreleadership team of Ramsey Solutions. Debt is Dumb and Cash is King…. IYKYK… Shoutout to all the leadership books and business books from John Maxwell, Dave Ramsey, Patrick Lencioni, Simon Sinek, Will Guidara and all the other gurus out there. Thank you all!
