Meet Dora Welch | Women’s Boutique Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dora Welch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dora, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is faith and prayer. Believe it or not, I prayed for everything I have. This boutique didn’t come by accident, let me tell. I prayed for my vision, for an opportunity, for the right resources, and for the drive to go hard when the opportunity came knocking. So when the opportunity presented itself, I worked hard, stayed dedicated, and kept faith in the process. All these things along with proper promotions and advertisements, as well as, pop up shops helped with my success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

What sets my brand apart from other women’s boutiques is my versatile style. I sell clothes for everyone: lingerie, swimwear, exotic wear, plus size, club wear, and casual. What I absolutely love the most about what I do is being able to talk to my customers and helping them. I meet so many women from all walks of life and it’s nothing more enjoyable than to have my customers walking out feeling better then when they came in. Having a masters in psychology, I get a chance to hear the motivation behind why they’re shopping. Some are just getting divorced, or just having a baby and want to feel sexy again. I feel it’s not only my job to sell them clothes but I’m also here to remind them that they are beautiful and sexy in the skin your in. I mean, my slogan is “Let’s explore your inner sexy” and we are going to do just that.

This hasn’t been an easy road and I’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way. One thing I will say is no matter what, follow your gut feeling. If it feels right and makes sense, do it. Secondly, follow YOUR VISION. I came across some hateful people who want to see me fail. Best thing you can do is see them for who they are, pray for them, and cut them off unapologetically. People will destroy you and your brand if you let them. But the good thing about is, YOUR IN CONTROL.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite things to do with my girls in the area is to shop, eat, and catch some good vibes. I would start my trip off with going to Seismique. What a cool place to go and have fun while getting some cute pictures in. Then go shopping at the Galleria, a must if your in the city. During the summertime, Cle’ for a pool party. Camp Houston, Bar 5015, or Turkey Leg Hut for food and a good time. But we would have to end the night at Seaside.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

My motivation behind everything I do is for my 3 sons and my mommy. I get emotional every time I think about my family and this journey I’m on. All of this is for them, and it’s not just about money. I want my kids to know no matter what the situation, you can do anything your heart desires just stay focused and put that work in. For my momma, she’s taught me so much and I absolutely love her for for raising me to be a strong, smart, independent, women.

I also want to give a huge shout out to my business partners Deon Price and Solange Robinson for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to flourish. Because of these two, my clothes are not only online but you can now shop for them in storefronts in Killeen and Austin, Texas. I’m forever thankful for you two. And I can’t forget Priscilla Hargrove and Sonya Moreno from Dallas. These two ladies are paving the way for my next venture. Stay tuned!
