We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Stephanie Oguchi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Stephanie, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by the people I meet who share their stories about the kids in their lives who have been bullied because of their differences. As I hear their stories, I can relate to the emotions during and after ridicule which inspires me to continue sharing my stories about loving yourself and being kind to others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a pediatric occupational therapist and I work with kids who have disabilities . I work on assisting kids to improve their functional abilities in their environment. I am most proud of assisting families and kids with the process of getting their kids independent with life . The world sometimes writes off these kids because they learn differently from others , but none the less , they are still kids who need to be supported and given the drive to succeed . It hasn’t been easy getting to where I am now. There have been transitions and changes along the way . However I have stayed positive , grateful and understand that climbing the professional ladder is a process . Some of the lessons I have learned along the way have been the ability to keep pushing through life even when there have been obstacles or setbacks. What I want the world to know about my brand, “The Colors of Me “ is that this is an inclusive series that shares stories and speaks to all people around the world. It is important that we continue to share the message of loving ourselves and respecting each other .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would show them the hidden gems in midtown and in Katy. I would probably eat at Soul Food Vegan I would drink at trez art and wine bar I would visit the bisong art gallery

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out to my great support system which includes my family and friends. My parents guided and provided a stable environment for me to learn , make mistakes and mature. I also have to give credit to my great friends I have met along the way who have shown genuine respect and love through all of my life changes. They have allowed me to be me without judgement.
