We had the good fortune of connecting with Dwayne Perryman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dwayne, what do you attribute your success to?
Integrity! I am a firm believer of doing things right and doing it the right way. In real estate, you are a part of the biggest decision of some people’s lives. It may be a first home or a dream home that will last generations, so it’s very important to be honest and make sure that your clients are informed and prepared to make the best decision for themselves. There is no better marketing than word of mouth, and I have been privileged to earn the majority of my business through referrals. It means a lot when people have good things to say about you.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a Realtor for a local brokerage here in Houston, Texas United Realty. I absolutely love doing what I do. What’s better than helping people achieve the American Dream! Having something that you can pass down to generations. I take pride in being a Realtor that does more than just show a few homes and write a few contracts. I genuinely care for the well being of my clients and always make a point to treat their journey in real estate as if it were my own.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s tough to make this list because there are so many attractions here in Houston. I’m probably going to miss some of my favorite spots, but I would definitely recommend checking out Galveston, Downtown Houston, City Centre, Showboat Drive-in, Redemption Square, Kemah Boardwalk, Discovery Green, Houston Zoo, Miller Outdoor Theater, Traders Village, and the outlets. You cant forget the sports; Texans, Rockets, Astros! I’m a competitive person, so bowling, Topgolf, and Mainevent are places I frequent. Houston has some amazing people and is very diverse, so there is something out here for everyone to enjoy! I enjoy being around my family, so a good time to me is going to the beach, having a lunch date at the park, going to the outlet, having a game night, hosting a bbq, etc.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Number one, God! Matt 6:33 reads “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Not long ago, I decided to make that scripture the focal point of my life and even in this latest economic disruption, I have not seen a decline in finances and my business has increased! My lovely wife, Shakita Perryman! I without a doubt would not be where I am now without her. She’s a real-life superhero; a mother, a wife, a business owner, an author, an influencer, a friend, my business partner, my everything. In all of the hats that she wears, she doesn’t lack in any of them! My daughters! They motivate me to not only be a provider, but also a good influence on what it looks like to live the right way! My spiritual leaders Pastors Eric and Meme Brown! They have spoken so much into my life and have been the perfect example on how to operate in today’s world without sacrificing your relationship with God! My mom, my dad, my siblings. I always joke that I could never have low self-esteem with the wife and mother that I have. My mom thinks I’m the best thing since sliced bread lol. Their support is the ultimate confidence booster. My dad! His stern leadership has instilled a toughness in me to take care of business, no matter how much you don’t feel like doing it. My sisters taught me how to deal with life at an early age lol; I am the youngest so I dealt with the getting picked on, getting left out, and getting out voted. All jokes aside, they have played a major role in shaping my character. All of my family and friends! I don’t take any of my life’s experiences for granted. If it wasn’t for my family, my life would have been so much different than it is now. I reflect back on my super sophomore year in college (you know, your second sophomore year lol) I wouldn’t have even made it through college. I had made my mind up that after football season I would just drop out. I was a good student, but I lost my motivation. I was only in college to play football. Anyway, one day I was cleaning my dorm and I found a box FULL of high school graduation cards from my family members…then it instantly made sense that it’s bigger than me! I had my entire family and community supporting me, expecting me to be successful. That moment continues to push me, even today. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in my life, I really mean it!
