Meet Eric CJ Cross | Fashion Model turned Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric CJ Cross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric CJ, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
From working in the corporate world and trying my hardest to climb the ladder of what I thought was success, it really came down to wanting better for myself. I started to become mentally and physically drained from pouring my energy into someone else’s company while not receiving any praise or forms of appreciation. I figured that if i took all the hard work that I dedicated to such companies and scaled that to my own brand, I would become a force in any industry. I’ve always been super organized, very creative, as well as really detailed oriented. Once I figured out my product which now is exclusive New Era Fitted Caps, I new the only thing left to figure out was the marketing. But i wasn’t concerned about that at all because I actually got my degree in PR and Consumer Marketing. The same tactics that I’ve used working for major brands, I applied those essential tools to Saynt Cross. As we continue to grow, I have no doubt in my mind that i made the right step by leaping into entrepreneurship.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Saynt Cross specializes in fitted hats with exclusive color-ways. Our first drop features a Chocolate Houston Astros New Era fitted alongside and Cotton Candy Houston Astros fitted, both detailed with the Houston Astros all-star side patch and a pink under-brim. What’s starting off as a hat brand will turn into a national clothing brand. Our name, Saynt Cross, says a lot about the main ingredients of the brand. The Saynt refers to the base—the icons, divine, renaissance, colour and print, which are the foundations of the brand. Our storytelling pieces, the unexpected combinations, shine, and playfulness, are the ultimate expressions of creative freedom. From eclectic statements to richly detailed essentials, we unite southern design with clever functionality—the expected with the unexpected bringing a modern, versatile wardrobe that lasts.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
of course we would start off with brunch! If we were brunch hopping, we’d go to Upper Kirby Bistro to fuel up with their amazing menu options and a pitcher of mimosas. Then we’d go to Present Company for the colorful ambiance and more mimosas. Since we brunch to eat great food and of course get super LIT, we’d probably need a little break to gain some energy. But, later that night we’d get right back to the good eats that I know all about. Because I can’t chose, I’d give them the option of either eating at Pappadeauxs, Joey Uptown, Mastro’s, or Thirteen. My mouth is watering just thinking about them all. You can’t call it a Houston trip if you didn’t go out and hear ‘Mo City Don’ at the function, so we’d end the night off by living it up at The Address and then going to Whataburger to grab some food super late at night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my early success to one if the best self-development books written, “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success”. The teachings noted in this book have changed my perspective on what success truly is and how humans should go about attaining what’s successful to their beliefs. Saynt Cross is a mirror representation of the fourth spiritual law of success, The Law of Least Effort, which emphasizes the power of making our dreams manifest into physical form, easily and effortlessly. I will forever follow the quote, “do less and accomplish more”, because my life was meant to flow without me having to go out of my way or try too hard. It’s always been in me, not on me. What is commonly called a miracle is actually an expression of the law of least effort. When we harness the forces of harmony, joy, and love, we create success and good fortune with effortless ease.
