We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Drexler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erica, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The value that matters the most to me is being obedient to Christ. The Lord is my everything, He is the reason why I am here and my goal each day is to do His will and not my own. He wants His children to be obedient and due to His love and sacrifice; I am saving myself until marriage at 33-years-old. I believe it’s the least I can do for the price Christ paid to save us. My mom has always told me that obedience is better than sacrifice and I’m doing both for the Lord.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the founder and CEO of Abstinence Inspires Millions (A.I.M), a Christian Nonprofit for the youth to encourage them to maintain their purity, obey the word of God and help mold them into strong Christian leaders while building their self-esteem. I am most proud of the fact that A.I.M is still going strong after being in leadership for over six years now. We are constantly trying to inspire the youth through speaking engagements, mentorship and unique events that teach God’s word from a point-of-view they can understand. I made it where I am today by the grace of God. He gave me the vision to start A.I.M and there is more work to do each year for our youth. It was not an easy road, especially when you’re speaking about abstinence to the youth, it’s a hard topic to teach. However, God has allowed us to reach those that thought it was too late for them to wait. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to always remember that numbers are not everything, if we have an event and reach only one child, we’ve done our part. It’s about planting the seed and allowing God to take over the rest! I want the world to know that waiting until marriage may not be popular, but it is possible. It’s not easy at times, but the rewards from the Lord is worth the sacrifice.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting me, I would definitely take her to the art museums as we love art and of course the Zoo since we love animals. We would go to the beach and take photos of nature and enjoy the amusement park at the beach. We would probably go to a nice Italian restaurant, or even get some Chicken and Waffles (hold the chicken for me) and then grab dessert. I believe the most fun places to check out is anywhere there is art, history and nature. Those three things alone are a recipe for a fun time!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my mom, for always encouraging me to be obedient to Christ and waiting until marriage. My brother Solomon also deserves credit for his support of my Abstinence Inspires Millions nonprofit and for encouraging me to continue the fight of being a strong Christian woman.
