We had the good fortune of connecting with Ericka Babygirl De Leon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ericka Babygirl, how do you think about risk?
Every step of my life has been felt like I’ve been pushed into a corner so with every move or goal I have decided to accomplish has been taking risk, this has been pivotal to every aspect of my journey from my career to creating opportunities for the community and development of programs & events. Alot of times if you feel fear in what your doing your probably going in the right direction. Its about stepping out on faith and intrusting yourself that you can accomplish all you set out to do now that comes with trial & error it might not happen right away but you try again if you really want to reach higher.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing I’d like to share is that things have never been just handed to me I have had to literally put the work, investment, heart & soul behind everything I do, the challenge has been within myself not mentally allowing to think that anything should just be handed to me. The amazing part of that is the character built behind all you accomplish the knowing you did that. Its very important to listen be a sponge to those around you that are goal oriented. I think what sets me apart from others is I dont give up I am a connector a energy & force that people feel when they are around me they know my word is bond & I always deliver.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I love food & music Houston has some of the best places restaurants & bars I mean you can go to a mom & pops place like Papa Burger to high end spot like Da Marco, some of my favorite bars are The Flat, Belle Station,Sky bar of course if its the first sunday of the month always invite to come to our monthly HipHop Vintage Flea Market. We have the most beautiful parks like Buffalo bayou not to mention the beautiful Galleria.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The biggest part of my testimony is a community center based here in Houston Texas known as Y.A. now known as Houston Revision, also a huge part of appreciation goes to the dance community. Some of my biggest aspirations and mentors I have to also Thank is BBC bboy Craig a Houston hiphop native, Dj Floski, my BgirlCity leaders, & HipHop Vintage Flea Market team also based in Austin Texas Romeo Navarro & Roger Davis of course I have to mention my best friend Jazze my family & my crews MZK & illMilfs I’m centered by amazing people.
