We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Moreno and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a young child I’ve always dreamt of starting my own business in the cosmetic industry since I enjoyed all things beauty at a young age.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always had a passion for beauty mostly in the makeup/hair department. My clients have chosen me for the purpose of keeping their natural beauty with enhancement and my soft touch during application. This journey has definitely been a learning experience. I’ve taken certification courses a lot was self taught to get to where I am. Practicing on family and friends to perfect my looks. I’ve learned time management and organization with this specialty to make sure my clients have a great experience with me. I strive to one day establish a multi service salon and never stop growing and learning.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start our day with Starbucks followed by lunch at Italianos, that’s one of our favorite Italian restaurants located in Humble. Maybe visit The Post near downtown and take a stroll. I love trying our new cafés and bakeries where you can enjoy the ambiance while sipping on some coffee or tea. I also enjoy outdoor Biergartens where you can eat, drink and entertain yourself with games with a group of friends.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank Rebecca Sotomayor Perez (friend), Monica Conchola (friend) , Morris Griffin (photographer), and Camille Roark (makeup artist/hair stylist) for their partnership, support, and faith in my business. It does not go unappreciated.
