We had the good fortune of connecting with Faith-Jamese’ Ferguson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Faith-Jamese’, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is: consistency, planning and being able to adapt to my environment.

Every decision I make I think about all of the possible outcomes of that decision and how it can effect my life. A lot of individuals just live in the moment but that very moment could cost you your life if a poor decision is made. I’ve stayed consistent throughout this journey even when I felt like giving up and didn’t see results as fast as I would have liked.

The beauty industry is constantly evolving and in order to stay apart of that evolution you must adapt and keep your technique and skill set up to date.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Touched by the Hands of Faith has been in the making ever since I was 12 years old; I am now 25. From doll heads to doing my own hair then doing my mom’s then other peoples’ hair it’s hard to keep count of how many clients I have actually serviced. Over the past 5 years the beauty industry has changed drastically in a positive and negative way. The mission for my business is to bring back the experience. I remember going to the salon growing up not having to read through a page full of policies and rules just before booking or paying extra for a “squeeze in fee” when the cosmetologist had open availability for that day. I feel like the passion is no longer there. Cosmetologist develop into counselors, friends and an overall safe space when building relationships the correct way with clients. Touched by the Hands of Faith will give you that experience and want to instill trust within everyone who is serviced.

I am where I am business wise today by observing others and doing what works for me. While learning from their and my mistakes. Also, by listening to individuals who have been in this industry for awhile and accepting feedback, wisdom and knowledge. I can’t forget about Prayer! A lot of praying over my business has allowed doors to be opened for me that I couldn’t have imagined.

If I could let the world know anything it would be that it is possible to come from nothing and turn it into something. You just have to want it and not let the obstacles that you endure steer you in a direction that’s not towards your goals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I haven’t quite been here long enough yet for a full itinerary but I would want them to visit the galleria mall. It’s the largest mall I’ve ever seen so far. The Address, Lost and Found, Prospect Park has great food and it’s a vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This Journey would not be possible without my Creators James and Shondelle Ferguson. My parents constantly encourage me and tell me to going.

My Mom is what keeps me going. To see her sacrifice so much I just want to give her the world in return. She’s my best friend, role model, prayer warrior, assistant, therapist and anything else you can think of. Her soul is so beautiful and she gives so much of herself even when there’s nothing left to be given.

My Aunt Roxie is like my second mom. She truly has a heart of gold and is beautiful inside and out and has also given so much. I can never repay her but have made it my job to work diligently so that they will be able to bare the fruits of my labor.

My siblings, best friends, mentors and loved ones are all a piece to this puzzle that drives my success. It’s so many names I can mention but I don’t want to call any in case I forget one but they all are appreciated and loved!
