We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Atchley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frank, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have had dogs since I was 3 years old. One of my most recent pups, Juno, was a Jack Russell Terrier that I went half way across the country to rescue. She was super intelligent and was my best friend. Unfortunately, while out on a walk with her, a reckless driver hit her and she passed away. A few months later I started this rescue to help find dogs in similar situations as she was originally in, find loving life long homes. It’s been an amazing journey and each of theses pups have been incredible.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Nothing has been easy about starting this rescue. It’s a financially large undertaking and requires many many hours dedicated to care, shopping, vet visits, events, and promoting the dogs to find them homes. I’ve worked extra jobs and reached out to a lot of friends and family for help in the beginning to be able to get the dogs the veterinarian care they need. Luckily, we are getting to a point where we are a staple rescue here in Houston. The biggest thing I would want anyone to know about Juno’s Hope is that our number one priority is the well being of the pups in our care and after. We believe that every dog deserves a happy home and to receive even just a fraction of a love they give to us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Houston I’d definitely want to take them to some of my favorite restaurants. I’m a huge foodie and that’s one of the ways I show my love. Kin Dee, Bungalow Heights, The Breakfast Klub , and guadalajara del centro are my favorite spots. I’d also take them to Montrose at night so we could catch some drag shows, do some karaoke, and hear some great music. JRs, BUDDY’S, and Rebar are the best!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. They always encouraged me to follow every dream I have ever had and have been the best rocks to lean on when things get overwhelming. Without growing up with all our pets and seeing their love for them, I don’t know that I would love animals the way I do.
