Meet Gabrielle Kane | Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabrielle Kane and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabrielle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After years of working as a dietitian in the hospital setting, I started feeling burnt out. I was working incredibly hard, but the impact I was making felt minimal. Patients often weren’t ready to change or the focus was more on immediate medical concerns rather than long-term behavior change. I had no doubt in my mind however that with the right environment and committed individuals, I could truly change lives. Starting my own business gave me the autonomy to work with people in a more effective way that actually drives lasting change. Now, every decision I make is my own, and I get to create a coaching experience that’s effective, personalized, and built around what actually works.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Peak Performance Nutrition is a coaching practice dedicated to science-backed strategies for weight loss, chronic disease prevention, and sports performance. I help my clients achieve their desired results through expert education, highly personalized nutrition plans tailored to their unique needs, and powerful mindset strategies to address the root of their challenges—ensuring lasting success, not just a temporary fix.
Building this business wasn’t easy. When I started, I knew a lot about nutrition but almost nothing about how to run a successful company. As an entrepreneur, you have to learn how wear all of the hats from marketing to sales to operations. The biggest lesson I learned was to follow the Pareto principle and work smarter, not harder. Instead of trying to do everything all at once (or continually adding to your to do list), focus on the actions that yield the greatest results each day. That, and be true to who you are. Don’t try to be someone else because you think it will attract more clients/customers. The right clients will find you and want to work with you because of your unique voice and style.
What I’d like people to know about my brand is that Peak Performance Nutrition stands for the highest level of quality, expertise, and results. When you invest in coaching with me, you’re investing in a real, lasting transformation.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start the weekend off with a fantastic morning workout at the One Sweat studio in the Heights (shoutout to my favorite instructor, Spencer). After that (and a shower of course), we’d grab coffee and a high protein breakfast at home before heading out for the day. If the weather is nice, we’d spend some time walking around the Arboretum, or Japanese Garden at Hermann Park. If the weather is not cooperating, I would take them to the Museum of Natural Science – my favorite museum in the city! We’d then grab a late lunch somewhere on the healthy side like Bella Green before heading to Heights Biergarten for some cocktails. Finally, for a unique and truly Houston experience, I’d take them to Asia town for dinner. One Dragon for incredible soup dumplings, or Hongdae for Korean BBQ.
The next day, we’d enjoy coffee, maybe do some yoga, and then head to the Kolache Shoppe on Heights Blvd which, in my opinion, has the best kolaches in the city. After breakfast, we’d take a walk around the Memorial Park loop, followed by a beer or two in Saint Arnold’s scenic biergarten. After that, it’s back to the Heights to check out one of my favorite cocktail bars, Eight Row Flint. For dinner, I’d take them to one of my favorite spots – Coltivare, Roost, El Tiempo, or Lupe Tortilla (the Mexican restaurant choice depends on whether they prefer chicken or beef fajitas…).
My husband and I are huge golf fanatics so if we had one bonus day, I’d love to take my friend golfing (if they were into that), either at Memorial Park or at our club Hearthstone Country Club. After the round, we’d refuel with either a burger at Burger Joint, or BBQ at one of our favorite spots, Pinkerton’s.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to recognize my husband, Jake, for always supporting and believing in me. From the very beginning, he has been my biggest advocate—encouraging me to chase my passion, take risks, and build a business that truly helps people. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him, and I’m beyond grateful to have him by my side.
