We had the good fortune of connecting with Gazi Asadullah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gazi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It seems like I always had the eye for photography. But officially I started when my Son was born, I invested in somewhat basic DSLR and started taking photos. I am type of a person who is always looking for improvement no matter how good or bad I am. So I started reading books, watching you tube videos how ti improve my photo quality, and before even I realized, I ended up spending $15-20k on camera, lenses and other accessories. Then I started talking photos at events for friends, and I did not charge anything ofcourse. Then I realize, why not making it commercial and start charging people for my service, I could get some of the investment back. Thats how the business started. But then I focused only on wedding, as I had full time job as Electrical Engineer, weekend is the only time I could spend time on photography. Secondly I love weddings, different culture, different way to do things. Also everyone is just so happy at the wedding, bring positive vibe which I really enjoy.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am so proud of the guys that work with me. They are very talented and make my job very easy. We learn from each other everyday! The best part is, they love being part of weddings as much as I do, and enjoy every moment. We just dont want to be part of weddings, but we want to be there as friends so that we can capture everything best possible way – and best possible perspective. Ofcourse it wasnt easy to get where I am today. I started alone and slowly built up the team. There are many talented photographer and videographer out there, the biggest challenge is and was to so something different that will set us apart from others. I think we do it very well now, which is building relationship through the booking process. Our client is not just our client but also our friends…and we keep it that way. We are always there to help them just like a friend does, and they do the same for us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably take him or her to Austin. Houston is too flat for me. I would just go to Austin or Hill County and spend the night on Lake Travis. Would love to visit the cabin on the river in San Antonio as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife and kids that had so much patience with me when I spent hours after hours on photography – learning and trying. They still do have a lot of patience for me.
