We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Ahumada and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grace, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say the most important factor to my success is believing in my self. It definitely was hard at the beginning not knowing much and taking that chance. I thought I was never going to improve on my skills. I realized I had keep on practicing otherwise I was never going to see a change. I already had been taking photos for a couple of years but it wasn’t until I decided to open my page that I started believing in my self.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of being to help others start their photography business. I also teach classes for those who want to know more about their camera or simply know about how to start their business. It really makes me happy when I see they are growing in their business and skills. I got here because I practiced and practiced. It definitely was not easy because I wanted to just get better quickly but it took time. I was able to be pertinent and see my progress session after session. I have learned and I also mention this in my class, to not compare your self to others. Photography takes time. It took time to find my style. I want others to know they can turn their passion into their business. I’m glad I get to go to work and have fun.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best place to visit here I would say is Kemah Boardwalk. I have always gone ever since I could remember. I now plan to take my son just like my parents did with my siblings & I. We enjoy going eat at Bubba Gump Shrimp and just walk and see everything they have. There is always music or some sort of show for the families. I also enjoy going around downtown at night in the scooters. Super fun to do with friends and family. You could never go wrong going to an Astros game!! Always fun to go to. It simply just a different experience. The best part of the city is when it’s February-March because we get the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I go every year!! The food, games & the livestock show are always good. Not to mention all the concerts! It’s fun getting all the outfits ready every year. There’s just a lot to do at the rodeo.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout Gigis Sweets. My sister just has the best cookies and cakes. She loves what she does and she’s just the best.  I would also like to shoutout Mari Lozano Studio & Jess Photography who are two other photographers on Instagram here in Houston. These two hard working mommas are photographers whose work I love & respect. Last but not least, big shoutout to LifeLivinGal Boutique. They have super cute western clothes. I’m obsessed with their tops & sets. Definitely check them out!
