We had the good fortune of connecting with Gracia Talbott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gracia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I never thought I would be a business owner but then covid hit. Working from home I started to ask myself how can I grow and help others grow. Professional development has always been important to me and realized that working in higher education, with things always changing, it is important to be growing all the time. I knew a friend who was also a life coach and asked them what program they used and if they felt it helped them to get to where they are today, and she said yes. I enrolled in the WCI certification and saw what other coaches were doing. When deciding what niche would be best for me, I was open to helping all. I became certified, then went on legal Zoom and completed the paperwork to create my LLC. Starting a business would allow me to grow my name but also help others in areas that they may need guidance on.  It has been a little over two years, and I have learned a lot. The biggest one is to learn to pivot and listen to the needs of others while aligning my strengths. I am still learning and being a business owner has been a great experience with its ups and downs.

What should our readers know about your business?

At its core, my business is built on the principle of empowering individuals to unlock their full potential and achieve their personal and professional goals. As a certified life coach, I am trained to help people navigate through different periods of their lives. Through active listening, empathy, and problem-solving, I can help unlock their potential. One of the key differentiators of my approach is the flexibility to offer both virtual and in-person coaching sessions, ensuring that my services are accessible to clients regardless of their location or schedule.

This year, I’m thrilled to introduce a new and exciting offering – a retreat day that will provide an immersive, in-person experience for clients to learn, grow, and connect with others on a similar journey of self-discovery. These retreats will be carefully curated to create a nurturing and inspiring environment, where participants can delve deeper into their personal growth, explore new perspectives, and foster meaningful connections with like-minded individuals.

In addition to one-on-one coaching and retreats, I also offer innovative, richly designed workshops that address various aspects of our lives. These workshops cover a wide range of topics, from cultivating mindfulness and resilience to enhancing communication skills, developing leadership capabilities, and navigating life transitions. By leveraging my diverse experience in higher education, human resources, and project coordination, I bring a multifaceted approach to these workshops, ensuring they are engaging, informative, and deeply transformative.

One of the key strengths of my coaching business is the integration of my diverse professional background. With years of experience in higher education, I bring a deep understanding of personal and intellectual growth, as well as a passion for lifelong learning. My human resources expertise allows me to provide valuable insights into interpersonal dynamics, conflict resolution, and organizational development. Additionally, my project coordination skills ensure that every aspect of my coaching services, from individual sessions to workshops and retreats, is planned with great detail.

Running a successful coaching business is not without its challenges, and I firmly believe in the importance of continuous learning, pivoting when necessary, and actively seeking honest feedback from clients. This commitment to growth and adaptation is crucial in ensuring that my services remain relevant, impactful, and aligned with the evolving needs of my clients. I understand that personal and professional growth is a journey, and I strive to be a trusted guide and partner to my clients every step of the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a big foodie and Houston has amazing spots! A few of my favorite places at the waterway for the lights and sights. The Houston botanical gardens, hiking trails, and horseback riding are fun nature things to do. Getting great BBQ from Tejas BBQ and Corkscrew. Old Town Tomball has a lot to offer from its great Farmers market and events for the whole family. would be on the list. I would also take them to NASA and the zoo as those are amazing!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends have been an unwavering source of support and inspiration throughout my journey. From a young age, they instilled in me the belief that I could achieve anything I set my mind to, encouraging me to dream big and pursue my passions fearlessly. My friends, too, have played a vital role in shaping my aspirations and supporting my endeavors. They have been my cheerleaders, celebrating my successes and lifting me up during moments of doubt or setbacks. Their diverse perspectives and insights have challenged me to think differently, broadening my horizons and inspiring me to continuously strive for greater heights. All this has helped me support my clients in my coaching business.
