We had the good fortune of connecting with Hattie Mitchell-Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hattie, what do you want people to remember about you?
I would like for people to remember how my spirit, smile, and beauty commands a room. How I have helped so many gain the confidence that I carry. Just to remember that just because you’re small in body doesn’t mean your presence can’t be big.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Full-time Employee, Business Owner, Wife, and Mother. Business has not been an easy journey, and of course it has it’s ups and downs. The thing that keep me grounded is knowing that I have little ones counting on me. Getting to the point where I am now took resilience, perseverance, dedication, and commitment. Madam Marie’s Boutique is your fashion headquarters. It’s where women and girls are able to be comfortable with consulting on any fashion advice, as well as selecting a wardrobe that’s perfect for any occasion or just because.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week long stay in Houston, there is sooooooo much to do! We would definitely have to visit Five Central and Quotes Willowbrook for a weekend night on the town. Also, during brunch hours I like to dine at Grace’s or The Kitchen in The Woodlands area. A self-care Saturday for me is spent at BeeRenee Aesthetics for a fresh brow wax, V-Steam, facial or any beaute service that you can think of.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The people who started me on this beautiful journey many, many years ago…My Grandmother (The Matriarch) and model, My mom, and My sister’s. Growing up in a home where I was the baby (doll baby), with many fabulous women with so much style is the reason that i am on this journey today. I was everyone’s little dollbaby who they could dress up every day over and over again until they got tired. LOL! Everyone has the gift of hair and the eye for stylish apparel so in our community and family we were the go to when preparing for any special event or occasion. As I got older watching my sister-in-law taught me how to be the perfect combination of modest and stylish. I would be remiss not to say Thanks to my family for instilling me with the style, grace, and confidence that I have today.
