We had the good fortune of connecting with Henry Madubuike and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Henry, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
No one can define success for you; it is something you must define for yourself. Success might imply a sense of contributing to society and making a difference. It might imply a sense of success and advancement in your job. It might imply being able to pursue your passions. It might mean being able to provide your children with the greatest possible upbringing. One thing I feel helped me is my ability to use my mind and pinpoint whatever I want. I am a go-getter, if I wanted something, no matter what it is, I would get it. Another habit that has helped me is the fact that I solely do everything thing I do because I am called by God to do it. So If I have 1 person or a million people listening to me, I’m still going to deliver the message with everything I got.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a visual artist and a podcaster. Growing up I enjoyed art in general. When I was a kid, my dad traveled a lot, and remember the moment he boarded the flight, I was on the other side of the airport with my mom looking at his plane and I drew it with the little drawing book and pencil I had back then. Then in middle school, the interest grew more, I remember vividly drawing my favorite cartoon character which was – BEN 10. High school would probably be my peak when it came to visual art – drawing, painting, sculpting. I had an art teacher – Mr. Ifeanyi – who helped me sharpen and improve my skills. This was the season in life I loved competing in art competitions, it was also the beginning of my love for styling and fashion.
Coming to college I didn’t major in Art because the people closest to me didn’t fully support the idea of “possibly finding a lucrative job in visual art”. I barely did any physical art coming to college -sometimes I have thoughts of ” what if I lose this talent of mine? “- So I got an iPad and started doing digital art here and there. I also started exploring more when it came to fashion and styling as well, just to keep my creative mind still fresh.
I started podcasting on August 11, 2021. It had always been on my heart to start a platform to share the word, but I always ran away from it. Until one Sunday I was watching a bunch of videos on my mentor’s page, what convicted me was when he said “…Whenever God places something (an idea or proposition) and you fail to do it or you procrastinate, then you are depriving someone else the blessing of what could have been produced out of that simple thought…” This hit me and I just started thinking “Do I really want to be a blessing depriver? ” I went to church later on that day and my pastor preached a word similar to what was in my heart, then as I was about to leave a church member encouraged me to start a podcast, and that was how it all began for me!
I want people to know that Consciously Existing is beyond a podcast, it’s a brand, a leap of faith and so much more.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow whenever my best friend pulls up, I try to maximize the time with her. One of my go-to places to chill would be Spa castle in Dallas. This place is wonderful, with a highly modern interior design. They feature roughly ten different types of dry saunas, as well as an outdoor, bade pool, an indoor pool bar, and a food court. You must wear your uniform in the public areas and your own swimming suit at the poolside. We enjoy the pool bar since it is pleasant and peaceful. As for food I would do, XOXO Dining Room. Beautiful area and it is undeniably a backdrop for stunning photographs. The attention to detail is palpable and worthy of a photograph. The dinner was fantastic, which was surprising, to be honest. Normally, one would be disappointed, but the food was actually good and came in a substantial size, so it was well worth the money.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely give a shout to one of my mentors Mr. Carrington Brown through a bunch of videos he posted that motivated me to start my podcast. I would also thank my spiritual leader, Pastor Joshua Okpara who has also encouraged and motivated me in this journey. For all of their inspiration, support, and love, I thank God, my family, and friends. To everyone who has entrusted me with the messages i deliver through my voice. I adore you all and pray that you will continue to support me because the greatest is yet to come.
