We had the good fortune of connecting with Hosea Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hosea, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am fortunate enough to have been raised by two highly educated parents. They instilled in me that I could attain anything I want in life as long as I am willing to work for it and that always stuck with me. When the pandemic first hit, millions of people were suddenly at home more than usual and $1,200 richer. I saw this as an opportunity to bring something different and safe to the candle market. My candle company Vibes Handcrafted offers lovely scented candles made with eco-friendly wax, and sustainable packaging for the betterment of our earth.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always had a passion for acting and singing. I’ve been dedicating this year to putting myself out there even more by singing covers of some of my favorite songs on my IGTV (@hoseajerrod) and posting comedic skits on my Tik Tok (@hoseajerrod). I’ve also been doing a lot of writing lately whenever I have time, so who knows I may be looking into making music.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If someone special was visiting town the first place I’d take them is the beautiful McGovern Centennial Gardens. Next we’d visit the Cockrell Butterfly Center and then end the day by having a drink at Axelrad.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my parents Hosea and Brenda Jackson as well as my brother and sisters Christian, Autumn and Hannah Jackson for always loving me and supporting my dreams.
