We had the good fortune of connecting with Hossein Mohagheghian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hossein, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Life is all about making decisions and weighing the risks and benefits. You can not find success or happiness without taking risks. With that said, an individual has to weigh the potential benefits versus possible detriment regarding a decision, action, etc. My father taught me: when making a decision consider the benefits and detriment. If the ideal reward outweighs the possible adverse outcome then do it no matter what.
I’ve used this throughout my life including my career choice. Becoming a doctor is not a common feat to accomplish. I knew the possible outcome of completion outweighed the possible consequence of failure.
I use this ideology in multiple facets in my life including financial choices, lifestyle decisions, dating, social interactions, and finacial investments.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am privileged to practice medicine as an Emergency Medicine Doctor . My career involves social interactions with patients from multiple backgrounds , recognizing ailments and diseases of varied severity, examining and treating patients with the knowledge obtained as an M.D. It encompasses team work with a highly trained staff including nurses, techs, and others.
The long demanding journey required discipline, faith, sacrifice, and unimaginable time and effort. I do not think I would be mentally or physically capable to it over. Having faith in God, guidance from mentors, and surrounding myself with encouraging company assisted greatly.
I am most proud to do what I love and what I am good at. Emergency Medicine is my niche in life.
The overall lesson I would convey is one taken from a favorite book of mine: “Without pain and without sacrifice we would have nothing ”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to a sporting event at the Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park, and Reliant Stadium. I enjoy a live game with great seats.
Steakhouses will always grab my attention including Perry’s Steakhouse , Steak 48, Matros and so many others. There’s a lot of enticing restaurants available.
