We had the good fortune of connecting with Hype South and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hype, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Steve Harvey once said, “If you give up it’ll never happen, but if you keep going the possibility that it could happen remains”. Thats a quote that has become a mantra of mines but in reality for me, quitting is not an option regardless, I don’t “give up”. I can have a goal, reach my goal and move on from that endeavor and continue the journey, but giving up nah, that aint my feng shui.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started off writing, directing and producing a low budget movie named Faces but there was a plan behind it, for me to establish a trusted name in the local entertainment industry so that I could parlay that into directing music videos to generate steady income because I was recently fired from my job at the time with really no clue on what i was going to do next and music/entertainment was always the back up plan for me due to previous experience earlier in life. My plan worked and I shot dozens and dozens of music videos until I figured out I was working to hard and not making enough money and tapped into the old moniker that there is strength in numbers and structured a team and the price went up! At that point is was time to expand and do something different and further dig into my dream of being within the entertainment business and eventually started a media company (Chowtime TV) that specializes in podcasts, interviews, documentaries, blogging and other styles of original content. After maintaining that I knew it was necessary for me to create a additional stream of income so I bought my first limousine. I’ve made several ambitious investments in my life but this was the best one so far due to the consistency and reliability of the income, with plans of expanding the fleet in 2022.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Of course I would pick the up in my limo and hve my driver take the to Screwed Up Records and Tapes to tap into my favorite part of Houston culture. Next I would take them to the graffiti. walls near downtown to see the creative art thats on those buildings. Then for lunch I would take them Mickeys to get some Soul Food and treat them to some good eating. Slide down Westheimer for them to go to the Galleria to cop a outfit and sight see a little bit then take em to Prospect Park to get a drink and mingle with some Houstonians.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this feature to Samantha Meadows the mother to 2 of my beautiful children. She passed away in 2019 and has become an inspiration and motivation for me to continue, succeed and go hard at all times. Love.
