We had the good fortune of connecting with Imani Le’Dai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Imani, how do you define success?
I define success in many ways. For my full time job working in the mental health field, success is when my clients are able to successfully take what we discuss, apply it to their lives and see a change. For my small business, WaistedbyImaniLedai, success is defined by the people that I am able to impact through it. I have met so many waisted babes who say “Girl your leggings make me want to get up and go to the gym” and not long after their tagging Waisted in their gym photos looking amazing!” More women are thinking about their health and WaistedbyImaniLedai is a part of that journey. This makes me happy. This is success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
By day, I am a Mental Health Counselor and 24/7 I am the CEO of WaistedbyImaniLedai. WaistedbyImaniLedai is an athletic and athleisure brand for women who are like me and like to look good in the gym. I started Waisted for that exact reason. Looking good in the gym motivated me to go when I had just begun my fitness journey. As I began to shop though, I noticed a need for athletic wear that was trendy enough for me to wear running errands or lounging, supported me in the gym and was affordable. After months of research and doubting myself, WaistedbyImaniLedai was born. It has not been easy this year. I have learned so much about business, myself and other people, but I would not trade this journey for the world. This is only the start of my business. I have so many plans that will be executed and crossed off the list. I cannot wait for you all to see more of us!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To show my friends a good time would be to take them out to eat! I am a foodie and Houston has so many hidden gems. For sure I would be taking my friend to Tacos el Jaibo! I love tacos and their Lamb Birria tacos take the cake, but do not go on a Wednesday because for some reason they are always super busy. Also, if you are into seafood, checkout Lotus seafood. Never go wrong!

I would like to first dedicate this to God. He surprises me daily with things like this article and continues to bless my business.
