We had the good fortune of connecting with India Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi India, how do you define success?
Success is when you have accomplished your desired aim. I tend to view success incrementally. As someone who is invigorated by new, complex challenges, I never want to find myself in a situation where I feel as if there is nothing left to learn or achieve. Success, for me, is also about making a difference in other people’s lives. If, over the course of my career, I have seen more satisfied clients than not, or if I have learned something new or useful, this counts as success to me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I view myself as the Queen of Natural Glam! It’s what I love, it’s what I do. I enhance your natural beauty with a sprinkle of glam. One thing that I hear most from my clients is that they still look like themselves. I take pride in that!! I want their compliment from others to be that they look beautiful, not that their makeup is pretty. I think my style of makeup is what sets me apart from others. I stay up to date with the trends because I want the ability to offer a client whatever they ask for but I truly believe that I have a staple look or style that I am known for, and that look is Natural Glam. I am where I am today professionally because of my dedication and perseverance. I’ve had moments when I didn’t feel inspired and giving up crossed my mind but I believed in myself and my faith was stronger than my doubt. I’ve learned along the way that I am not everyone’s makeup artist, I’ve learned not to compare my journey to anyone else’s, and I’ve learned that there is something that you can learn from everyone that you encounter. I want the world to know that I am glamming the Globe… One CANVAS at a time!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sunday – Church at The Word Church. Dinner and Live Music at Taste Bar & Kitchen Monday – A nice spa day at The Spa at Post Oak followed by brunch at Bloom and Bee Tuesday – Thursday we would spend time at home catching up, visiting family and friends and playing in makeup. Friday – I would take her makeup shopping at Sephora and then a nice visit to Pretty Kitty for the best waxing ever, then Dinner at Steak 48 Saturday – Brunch at Weights and Measures then off she goes!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Denise Tunnell and all of my clients that trust me to enhance their beauty.
