We had the good fortune of connecting with Inez Arevalo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Inez, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The yard card sign greetings have been very popular in the past few years in my area but I never saw one that really caught my eye and that is how A Decorating to Remember was born. The yard card greetings were plain, simple and not as creative as I thought they should be. Personally, I would prefer a tall and creative sign, since it’s celebrating a special day in someone’s life. I decided to start the business to provide affordable and unique signs to everyone in hopes of bringing a smile to their face with my creative signs.
What should our readers know about your business?
The yard card greeting business was created because I noticed something was missing in current market. I wanted clients who were celebrating a special day to have a tall, unique, creative and beautiful sign. The ones in my area were small, either too long on yards or not long enough and overpriced for the quality of the signs being displayed. I am most proud that we just started June 2021 and the calls we receive to hire us for yard card greetings all have something in common – they mention our overall yard greeting size (being taller than most) which means they noticed and that sets us apart from others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Kemah, Galleria for shopping, eat at Fernando’s in Sugar Land.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband has been very supportive since the beginning. He has helped with not just installing the yard card greetings but also created the equipment to create the 2 to 3 tiers. We decided to make our own equipment, not purchase from online vendors or local companies. The materials used were thought of by my husband.
