We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaiah Bassett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isaiah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind creating my own business was being accessible for my family, creating freedom from “corporate America” and making a passion my career.

I worked in automotive service and sales, I’d work a 10 to sometimes 14-hour shift to provide for my wife and kids. Despite all the money I made, I missed the first critical years of my children’s life, weight gain, mental fatigue, and creative suppression. I realize something has to change and I have the talent and skill to do so. After doing a lot of camera work for free, I decided to allow people to pay me and to make a career of my passion.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is patience with my clients and drive to continue to learn and perfect the craft. I contend with myself and perfect my creative style. I’m excited about developing as an artist and the creative style I have to offer. I got to where I am today professionally by taking everything I’ve learned and experienced from previous employment. By being pushed and supported in my passion until it became a business. As that was happening I attended “Youtube University”. Early morning classes, day classes, night classes, and even overnight classes. It’s had and still has its challenges, working full time with a growing family and conquering ADHD. There are times when things are effortless and flowing smoothing, and other times when you have to unplug from irrelevant business matters and grind it until what needs to be handled is completed.
What I learned is to keep learning and keep moving. Take things one day or even one moment at a time, do more when you can but keep going taking that day or moment at a time. In time you will get there and reap the fruit but it just takes time. Keep going.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that integrity in what you do always win, couple that with treating people right, you’ll go for. Bassett Film Co. (BFilmCo) takes this approach with people and helps them to tell their stories through video content.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The majority of the week would be a lot of eating. We’d go on a chicken wing crawls all over Houston, hit all the top food trucks, then Phil and Derek’s, Max’s, and Boheme. Lots of eating and drinking. Other than eating the typical Houston touristy parts of town, maybe a few hidden gems only Houstonians know about.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My success and where I am in life are based on Christ. Following his heart and mind has shaped and molded me. I recognize that the Lord had blessed me with a phenomenal wife who supports me at all times in every aspect of my life. She keeps me focused and accountable in my business. I do have to shout out to every client I’ve worked with. They took a chance and bet on me, allowing me to be in on their projects to help bring their vision forth. From my family to clients, they all have played a major role in me being where I am and where I will be going.
