Meet Ish Barri: Photographer & Podcaster

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ish Barri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ish, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor to my success is the fact that I don’t limit myself in what I do. As a photographer I love photographing people from various backgrounds and walks of life. As a podcaster I love having a various people on the show from models, authors, athletes, scientist, and entertainers on the show to discuss a wide range of topics. Being diverse is in my DNA. 

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I believe what sets me apart form others is the fact that I’m willing to get out and meet people. I have no problem going to events ranging from college sporting evens, comic conventions, bodybuilding contest and a host of others to talk to people in person. Call me old fashion but I believe that you can only do so much online then after that you have to get out and talk to the people. It wasn’t easy at first due to the fact that I am a bit shy but I learned that I had to break out of that in order to get anywhere and grow and so I did. I’ll be completely honest and say that I’ve been turned down a lot, more times than I can count but I don’t let that stop me because I believe that for every “no” I get that their are more people willing to say “yes”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We got to check out what sports are being played down at The University Of Houston. The University Of Houston has a very special place in my heart largely due to the amazing people and atmosphere along with world class sports facilities. In my humble opinion the best bar in town is Molly’s Pub in downtown Houston on Main. Great staff, drinks, location I don’t know what more to say about this place. When it comes to food as we all know Houston is the culinary capitol of the nation so there are countless places to choose from in this great city. I’m going to keep things simple and grab a bite of the best pizza in town at Frank’s Pizza in downtown Houston. Frank’s has everything you want in a pizza restaurant and has served the community for decades.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today with the ongoing support of several people starting with my dear close friend Tanjie Swan who always keep me grounded and humble. My longtime friend Sam Razz who is one half of the Scott & Holman Pawdcast for encouraging to start a podcast in the first place and helping me a long the way. My business partner and co-host of my podcast Helen “Mz Blue” Hadnot – Williams who’s been with me from the start of this amazing journey. Also, to my favorite author Dicey Grenor who grind and determination is like no other. Lastly, my good friend Lana Six who is tremendously creative and a good idea from her is always just a phone call away.
