We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Sunga and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackie, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
Many business coaches will tell you that growing a business is all about strategy. That’s not true. Growing a business successfully requires work with a lot of people, and to work well with people, you need a lot of emotional intelligence. When you have sharp emotional intelligence, you can lead yourself well, you can lead your team well, and your clients will be more likely to stay loyal to and advocate for your brand.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is a copywriting business. I help impact-driven education companies bridge the gap between their expertise and their audience with customer-first messaging. Whether I’m teaching emerging entrepreneurs or writing for 7-figure brands, I love helping clients find the words that attract perfect-fit people and sell with integrity.

Building a business was not easy. I had a lot of self-doubt in the beginning, but I realized something important along the way. Your relationships are your strongest assets. Pouring into your relationships and putting your customers first will always result in business growth. Even if your business is a personal brand, your business will be so much more successful when you prioritize the transformation that you want to offer customers and when you deliver well.

You also have to be extremely self-aware and aware of how your actions affect other people around you. That requires emotional toughness and softness. There will always be difficult, unexpected situations that come up or internal gremlins that tell you that you’re not doing enough or that make you want to dwell over mistakes you’ve made. But when you can offer yourself self-compassion and forgiveness in addition to swift action to keep moving forward, you’ll always find yourself in a successful place.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take them biking in the Buffalo Bayou park here in Houston where the trails are long and scenic.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to my clients! They are truly the backbone of my business, and I’m so inspired by them and the impact they make in others’ lives. It’s my honor to help them grow their businesses with words that sell with integrity and personality.
