We had the good fortune of connecting with Jakora Coffee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jakora, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
A habit that helped me succeed was Consistency!! Continuously trying and moving forward even when you don’t want to. My mind would discourage me sometimes however when your uncomfortable it brings growth. Stepping outside your element and getting uncomfortable help me succeed. Now if I feel I’m getting too comfortable I do something to challenge me just so I’m very stagnant.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
what sets me apart from others is I started from nothing. I was 267 pounds and worked consistently to lose weight when I thought I never could. It wasn’t easy but once you lock in mentally and know this is what you want nothing could stop me. I did it all by myself. I woke up one day and said I need change and literally never let up.
how did I overcome the challenges. When I first started working out I was extremely depressed and had very low self esteem. I was at my lowest and I never felt that low ever. God showed me fitness and allowed me to see more for me because I didn’t feel like I could do anything. Without fitness I don’t know where I would be.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okkkkaaayyyy, lol well if my friend wants to chill and have dinner we would go to KISS because that gives us eat and turn up and one place. I would suggest turkey leg hut for the houston experience. For fun we would go to ride ATVs and get hot and dirty there and for night life going to Kamp or Space
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s so many people that supported me and keep me consistent throughout my journey. God is number 1 and he deserves all the recognition!!! Currently, my trainer Chris has supported me and motivated me so much. I’ve had break downs at the gym and I cried it out and he made me get back to it when I emotionally didn’t think I could, then ended up succeeding past my expectations.
