We had the good fortune of connecting with Jared D. Howard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jared D., is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Simply put, my work ethic. My high school band director taught me very early on that working hard is most essential, and that has stuck with me throughout my entire career. From music, to stage, to film, if I did not have the desire to be greater than I already am, I would have given up a long time ago. But understanding that nothing worth having comes easy, especially in the creative field, has slightly lessened the mental strain. I believe in myself and am confident enough in my abilities that I know without a doubt, the harder I work, the greater my reward will be in the end.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the next greatest pop icon coming from Atlanta, GA and I say that with 100% confidence, because if you do not believe in yourself, who will? I call myself a performing artist because there are so many layers and talents within, I could never allow myself to stick to one label, so using the title of performing artist allows me to be everything that I am at once, without limiting any portion of my talents. I’m most proud of my versatility. A lot of artists were born with a limited amount of abilities, but I was fortunate enough to be blessed with a multitude that can adapt to any and everything thrown my way. This is what I believe sets me apart from the rest. My voice can carry multiple genres of music, my acting techniques allow me to showcase a wide range of emotion and characters, my dance training is well versed in a number of styles, and those are just the primary talents. Humbly, I can attest that I present myself extremely well in all three categories. I’m a phenomenal performer and a visionary beyond measure. I am just so grateful that God blessed me to hold so many gifts at once. I want to show the world that you never have to conform to anything that is not true to who you are. No matter what is trendy, popular or the “thing to do”, sticking to your heart will always outweigh any wicked ways of the world. I just pray that I can inspire others to believe in themselves in the same way and be authentic in the art they have to share.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well fortunately, my best friend lives in the same state as I do, so it would not take much. But in the case of a visitor, I would definitely recommend checking out the Ponce City Market rooftop for an afternoon of fun. It’s like a small amusement park with a bar and an impeccable view. The Botanical Garden is a beautiful sight to see. There are so many exhibits and creative presentations throughout that even the shortest attention span would be interested in. On the weekends I love to visit the Vegan Food Truck Park which can be found in Midtown. There is always such a great selection to choose from that most would be surprised at how sensational the foods are. Of course the nightlife is pretty entertaining. There is literally spot for everyone in the city, if you don’t like one place, there are one hundred others to choose from!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this to my mother who has always believed in me at every step of my journey. Constantly reminding me of how proud she is and how talented she knows I am. From the earliest age of 6, she has always allowed me to express my gifts as best she could the more they were developed. Knowing that she has confidence in my gifts are more than enough to keep me going. I owe it not only to myself, but her as well, to continue pushing toward my dreams.
