We had the good fortune of connecting with Ja’Wuan (Nineaux) Skinner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ja’Wuan (Nineaux), what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be about coming from nothing and get something. I want the next person to look up to me not just for my achievements but for my consistency and work. I named my record label TRM because we just “Tryna Reach Major” things in life. Stay humble and stay grinding and you’ll get where you need to be.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m really authentic from others. I’m just proud to do something that I love and make profit from it. I am where I’m at because of my humbleness and gratitude to the game. It ain’t easy though, you come with long hours and knowing some stuff may or may not work, but you keep pushing until you see results. The lesson I learned that stuff doesn’t happen just overnight, it takes time to get longevity in the music industry and what I want the world to know is that it’s not about ballin’ until you’re fallin’… but “stack until you can relax.”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I receive so much knowledge it’s hard to give credit to a book and all that. (Laugh) I want to shout out to every person who gave me advice in everything. From the OGs to the ones thats younger than me. I would like to give my family credit too. From the Skinner/Guillory family, I love y’all from my dearest heart on the cool. Y’all made me to the man I am and continue to help me as I grow.
