We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaylen Higgins AKA ‘JaeVii’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaylen, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think about risk as being a learning lesson that can’t wait to be experienced, whether good or bad. Taking a risk is seeing an opportunity that’s up for grabs. You have go for it! Taking a risk can catapult you to another level you didn’t think was possible. The amazing thing about taking a leap of faith is it puts you directly in the hands of unpredictability and the feeling of not being comfortable. That’s a good thing! I believe you grow the most in times of unfamiliarity. It forces your brain to adapt and rewire itself to accommodate or get you past the situation you’re in. Take that step! You’ll thank yourself later.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ll start by saying this.. believe, believe, believe. belief is what drives you forward, in my journey there is always a drive to achieve the next level. If you can see yourself doing the things you are passionate about and believe in your heart and mind, it will come into fruition. The future is already set and stone for you, just go and get it! To make your thoughts reality, all you need to do is actively complete goals that move you closer to your vision. By no means is the journey easy. You will be faced with challenges to the point where you feel like giving up, but in those times that’s where your true growth starts. Your dreams and aspirations cannot be achieved if you can’t maneuver through hiccups and short comings. It’s normal, we all have hurdles we have to face but it’s your determination to BE better that will push you forward in life hands down.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Spending most of my time in Phoenix Az, there is a quite a bit of places that are a must see. Aside from the main attractions like the Grand Canyon and Sedona, I would say the Beauty and rapid modernization of Tempe is my go to place. The scenery is energetic, and lively no matter where you go. Talking a stroll down Tempe Town Lake during and stunning sunset is truly jaw dropping. 10 out of 10! Would highly recommend! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Track and field really taught me that your mind is more powerful than you think. Mind of Matter. Anything you repeatedly practice proficiency follows. So I took this very same concept and applied it in my music making process. The more time I invest the more proficient I will become. Id like to also give my appreciation, love, and recognition to my family. I’m always self-conscious of my art and having them there for support and guidance drives me further and further. All the times where I felt stuck and confused my family and friends are there to knock some sense into me and get me back on track. Honesty, I wouldn’t have any sense of rhythm or coordination if it wasn’t for my mother and father in my earlier years. With my mom teaching me how to dance and move to the beat. It put me into a position where now I can express a plethora of different vibes and moods throughout my music. I Also wouldn’t have a sense of appreciation for hip-hop if it wasn’t for my dad. Introducing me to early artist from the East Coast really opened my eyes to true storytelling and different creative avenues an artist can take.
