We had the good fortune of connecting with Violeta Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Violeta, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
That is a good question. I will tell you what I believe in. I think it has a lot to do how much you trust your intuition, how badly do you want achieve your goal and how it makes you feel. It has to be a healthy balance though. There are people who give up without even starting, and there are people that would rather die but won’t give up on their goal. Rule of thumb: If it doesn’t make me feel happy and be proud, If it doesn’t make me better If it doesn’t brings me success If it doesn’t make me have an orgazm I Don’t waist your time on it. ….I LET IT GO and move on ….
How you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m an award winning photographer. My fine art nude work has been exhibited in New York and California art galleries. I have been doing photography since 2007, boudoir style photography since 2010. My love for boudoir photography started from my own experience. Postpartum weight gain led me to low self-esteem, and having my own boudoir session helped me get my self-confidence back. After the session and seeing my pictures, something clicked in me. I finally accepted my new body and fell in love with myself again. It was the most revealing moment of my life. On that day, I told myself “that’s it… this is what I want to do for a living”. Help women heal their broken hearts by falling in love with themselves again.
Has it been an easy path? What were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I knew it wouldn’t be an easy path to become a successful boudoir photographer. But the most challenging experience was leaving my family, all the people I love.
In 2012, my son and I moved to the USA and started everything from scratch, with no proper English, no friends, and no support. When you have faith everything is possible. I made new friends. Build my business. So Here I am… a full-time boudoir photographer – the Boss Babe behind the camera. I couldn’t be where I am today without the support and love of my family & friends through all those challenging times. I’m proud to say that through what I’ve learned along my journey, I have been able to overcome and push myself to be a better person, daughter, photographer, business owner, and a mom to a handsome smart boy who is my world …
There are so many misconceptions about boudoir photography…
I am hilarious… honestly, we laugh a lot during the session with my clients. Most of my bombshells I had the honor of photographing, calling me a PHOTOGRA-THERAPIST! No complaints here :). I’m not just a photographer, I am their therapist, biggest cheerleader, and coach.
My job is to reconnect a client’s inner glamorous persona with the real version of themselves. It’s all about who THEY are in their personal space. Between womanhood, temper tantrum time, mom time, bath time, wife time, and dinner time, they have lost sight of what a precious and unique gem they are. I follow the mood of my client and capture her in the way she imagines herself from classy boudoir, risqué, and provocative poses to kinky style.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
During the day I love the local museum district. The art museums are some of my favorite places to visit and get lost for hours in. I also love live events in that same area of town, like plays and theater. In the evening though I let my wilder side out and really enjoy going to live music events or pubs with live bands. I enjoy listening to the music and getting up and shaking my booty while having drinks with great friends.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
