We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Lemons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmine, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk to me plays a huge roll in my life because, without taking risks I wouldn’t have come as far as I have in my career and personal life. Every achievement I’ve had came from calculated risks such as becoming an entrepreneur and successfully starting my Real estate and Clothing line from the ground up. If you are an aspiring entrepreneur my advice to you would be, “take that risk”. You will thank yourself in the end.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Starting my entrepreneurship, I wanted to build a Legacy but like any other person in their early twenties, I did not know where to begin. So, I started by breaking out of my “shell”, I cold called for sale by owners, and started networking. One thing, about the for sale by owners sometimes they are very nice or they could be very mean. But, it’s all about how you take it. Another thing, about FSBOs is you never expect for them to go with your service. Nevertheless, I was able to provide my services and obtain listings with FSBOs, I continued my journey with their trust by selling their homes. Another thing, I ventured into was talking to every store clerk. For example, I pay inside of the store when I stop for gas as well as going to the clerks lane when I go into HEB. Starting my real estate business gave me the confidence to also start my own brand. Alongside Real estate, I studied fashion for HOURS, how it worked, how to start it up, how to come up with the ideas. Eventually, I learned to create my own website, my own clothes, and my own campaigns. I watched Youtube in my free time on how to create a website and how to start a business with zero dollars. Today, I am focusing on my time management, and delegating, with this I am able to stay focus on networking and creating.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although, I love to work, I also love to venture into new places such as coffee shops, parks , and museums. In general, I love to go to the coffee shops in Houston. They also have to have a good vibe to them. For instance, a great coffee shop has to have music playing and serve food. Another example, having games, it’s always a plus for good times. I love coffee shops, I don’t have a specific shop I like to go to, but I am usually in the Heights and in Downtown most of the time. Alongside, coffee shops parks is another place that I enjoy. I like to spend a lot if my time out doors. I am very active when it comes to sports and can be very competitive. For instance, Eleanor Tinsley Park is a great place to play soccer or have a game of football. Not to mention, the trails they have to have for running and biking. They just added canoeing to the list of activities too. Another reason why I love that park is because of the Houston skyline for the most part, They have a great view of the skyline, perfect for photography, family gatherings, and a game of sports. Last but not least, Museums are a great places to go if you love art as much as I do. The Fine Arts and The Contemporary Arts are both places I love to be. I recently discovered The Contemporary Arts because of a friend. Although both places are art based they are different in many ways. For example, The Fine Arts, has great exbibits I can appreciate. One exbibit they have is the “Hockney- Van Gogh” it is very exquisite and intriguing. The Contemporary Arts museum is only a few feet away from the Fine Arts museum, which is a plus in my books. The Contemporary Arts is a great place to be because, They allow the audience to get a feel for the present day artist.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could not have become successful without the supporters I have, my family, spouse and God. They have been with me through the thick and thin. For instance, Starting a new Journey as a Realtor in the city of Houston has been tough, not knowing a signal person looking to move. They were there to spread my name like wild fire in the Sugar Land area. Of course, I had to stand on my own two feet also by breaking the shell I consistently hid in. My spouse, who has been there for me through the transition from the food industry to the business world. For allowing me to shadow them on showings and in meetings. Checking over my email to make sure no mistakes were made if any. Most importantly, for lifting me up when I am feeling unmotivated or discouraged. Another person, I could not do it without is God. He has set a plan for me, and I graciously take those steps towards my unique path. I have been given the opportunity to work with incredible people and I am extremely grateful. I show my gratitude by giving back and volunteering to spread the love and light.
