We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerri McInnis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerri, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be how I overcame a lot of hurdles and curve balls that came my way all at one time and instead of letting it keep me down for a long period of time, it eventually motivated me to push harder and to never give up no matter what life throws your way. What I’ve been through has made me stronger and gave me a purpose and testimony.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a serial Entrepreneur which is why I am known as “Jerri of All Trades”. I have recently launched “Jay Mc Enterprise” this year which is all my businesses under one umbrella. I am co-owner/CMO of “The Heir Group LLC” which is also known as a mobile hookah business, apparel line, and brand. I am the founder of “Dating in the Dark” which is a blindfold speed dating company, and I have a part-time event planning company called  “Signature Events by J.J.”,  as well as a Lifestyle Influencer. I also do promotional jobs, black jack dealing, and brand ambassador, and independent contract  recruiter on the side. I decided to step out on Faith once the Covid Pandemic hit and I was laid off of my corporate job to focus on my businesses full-time. As you can see I love entertaining people so I am considered “The Life of the Party” or my other nickname “Butterfly Mixer” when it comes to the social world and being a socialite. I want to use my platform, gifts/talents, and businesses to bring people together to enjoy life, to give back, and to connect with one another. I know that is the gift that God has given me and that is to connect like minded people together to create fond memories or for a bigger purpose as well as to share my testimony by using my platform to encourage others that they can also live out their goals and dreams no matter what the storm may bring!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Since I am known as a socialite and one of my nicknames is “Butterfly Mixer”, I definitely know about a lot of the hot spots in Houston but since the pandemic, there definitely has been a lot more new spots to check out and see!

I would first take them to one of the newest black owned restaurants in Houston called “Juliet” which is made like a movie theater. The food and drinks are amazing, the atmosphere is very unique and creative, and the lobby of the bathroom is selfie picture/paparazzi picture worthy!!! After, we would head over to Urban Social for some strong adult beverages, great music, and good vibes as well as find out where “Heir Hookah” will be servicing hookahs at that night (hint hint, that’s my business. LOL)

Next up would be a day or night of a little fun and friendly competition by taking them to Pinstripes for bowling and some adult beverages as well as light bites.

I will then take them to listen to some LIVE music at some of the hot spots around Houston such as Scott Gerner’s Rythmn Room, Phil and Derek’s, or depending on the night of the week, 02 Lounge or the Spot Eado on Thursday nights. I love a grown and sexy crowd.

Sunday Fundays in Houston are now one of the most common things to do so we would definitely be at places like Bar 5015, Taste Bar, Lost & Found, Kiss, Rare, or Bisou for brunch and entertainment, then head over to the day party at Chapman and Kirby.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate and recognize two of the strongest and supportive women in my life and that would be my beautiful mother, Patricia Mc and my beautiful sister, Roxsanne (Roxie). I might not say it as often as I should but these two women have taught me the true meaning of “strength and love”. I have seen them overcome obstacles in their lives and came out on TOP!!! They always tell me how proud they are of me and how I motivate them but I feel like they deserve just as much flowers as anyone. Without their love, encouragement, and support, it will be hard to stay encouraged and focused.

Also, I can not leave out the person who has ALWAYS showered me with love and who is one of the most loving and strongest person I have ever seen, is my other sister Arnesha. I definitely don’t tell her enough how much she has shown me unconditional love and how much it meant the world to me how she was there for my father all the way to his last breathe! I could NEVER repay her for that!
