We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Byrd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
For me I think it was me becoming a MOTHER. It has showed me I can do ANYTHING I want in this world. Because how strong I can be. I strive every day for my two children. Making sure they will have a better life than mines. To never struggle in life. Also I have learn to manage money for them both. Managing money plays an important role in life.

Just like in a business you know at the end of the day. You have to strive to get to the finish line. Manage your business money to stay up float and be strong through the good/difficult time in your business.

Being a parent and owning a business can be definitely similar lol.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For as long as I can remember I was always different. Very creative, definitely had a different vibe/style from others. I always play the BOSS role since a little kid. Maybe because I was my mother oldest child. As the oldest you took on the lead role immediately lol.

When I was just 11 years old my mom became very ill. I became a leader very quickly. Taking on the leader role to three sisters. No matter what challenges came our way I was there to make sure we got through it. No matter the cost. So helpful people in the world was natural for me.
God’s way…

Helping people is definitely how J’s Curves Collection started. May 14,2019 I started my business as a way to build CONFIDENCE for all women internationally. Also decided to make a one stop shop for all your beach/travel wear needs. Yes I sell sexy swimwear for all sizes. Let’s understand that all different size women can have lack of confidence. It can be within our out.

I also have a Nonprofit business called Young Teen Becoming Queens. That is my baby. It haven’t officially opened yet. But it don’t mean we are not helping our communities. We have helped out many teenagers by having a program called Teen Christmas. It’s our 3rd year doing this program.

Teen Christmas give amazing teenagers the recognition they deserve on being the best all year around. We help parents out doing the rough time doing Christmas because it can be a struggle to make family Christmas special when you don’t have funds. I will continue to inspire and grow both businesses.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh man! So many people, I have a amazing SUPPORT system. First I have to Thank GOD because if it wasn’t for him. Next I would like to recognize my mother Chunda Byrd and Sisters. For being the first to teach me how strong of a person I am. I also would like to thank my beautiful two children, who mold me to be a great person/mom. Also my friends and family who always take time out to support me in whatever I want to do. I’m very blessed to have all of you in my life. So many others impacted my life as well…
