We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Trosper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It was very hard trying to raise my son and work at the same time. I was never comfortable sending him to daycare so I quit my job back in December of 2017 to take on my career full time. I had my daughter December 2017 and that was the wake up call that I need to become a full time entrepreneur. Before I left my last job I would work on clients part time, go to work, and then take care of my son. I wanted to do something that I loved and a career that made me look forward to work the next day.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from other stylist or hair braiders is that I actually nurture my clients hair. Being an entrepreneur has not been an easy ride I’ve most definitely wanted to give up at times. I learned if you want something you have to work towards it and set goals for yourself to reach. Over the years I have gained so much clientele and my work has improved. You can achieve anything you set your mind to.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For fun I like to go to sports bars, karaoke bars or even just a nice restaurant for a drink. I dedicate most of my life to my family and career so it’s rare that I do get out and have fun but I try to balance it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My fiancé and kids have been my motivation in pursuing my career. I get to make my own schedule and spend time with my loved ones. My fiancé always pushes me to strive for the best in life and taking my career seriously. I have been self employed since 2017 and never looked back.
