We had the good fortune of connecting with Jiovanni “Mr. Win The Day” Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jiovanni “Mr. Win The Day”, how do you think about risk?
Risk is a necessary evil. A good friend of mine told me, while in Vegas, if you are too scared to spend money then how can you make any. Everyone wants to be rich, but no one wants to do what is necessary for wealth to accumulate. Successful people take risk everyday. They risk their investment, their business, their livelihood. The difference in successful people and regular people taking risk is the type of risk. Risk is a situation involving exposure to danger. Most people see this and either run or they blindly take the risk. Successful people make sure to do their risk assessment which is a systematic process of evaluating the potential risks that may be involved in a projected activity or undertaking. Going back to my Vegas friend example; my friend was making much higher bets than me. I made about $500 dollars but he had made over $4,000. The reason why was that he was not scared to bet big because high risk equals high reward. This translates to the business world because if you do not take the risk and invest then there is no reward. First, you must analyze the risk then decide if the risk is worth the success. Sometimes the risk will not be worth it. The only way you will be able to discern the difference is with proper risk assessment. I make sure that I am putting skin in the game, and that I am properly seeing if each risk is worth taking. To start WTD Lifestyle, I had to put thousands of dollars in products and marketing that I did not know would be profitable in the end. I mad a calculated risk to choose products that I believed in. If I am too scared to take that risk then my business is not started. Simple.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I was trying to figure out what people need fitness wise to accomplish their goals while the US is shut down. I then thought to myself what would I want. After multiple questionnaires, and research I finalized which products I would invest in. Next was product testing. This was the most challenging part because you want to get the best quality product without spending the most. (The whole point of a business is to make money right?). So product testing was the most difficult part about this whole process. That was only overcome with time. It took about 8 months of testing to find the right manufacturer. After that, the process has been pretty smooth. I know other challenges may come in the future though and I am ready to face those. What sets WTD At-Home Workout Equipment apart from the rest is the quality and price of my equipment. My equipment has been looked at by multiple trainers and all agree that my products are high-quality. Many people tell me that I should charge more. A little about WTD: At Win The Day, we develop new mindsets to succeed in any facet of life, and we strive to provide winning habits for anyone that has goals or greater aspirations for themselves. We provide daily inspiration/motivation and professional help through our network specially designed for our clients. Win The Day will not only change the outcome of your goals but will also develop a winning lifestyle. The focus of WTD is to change the mindset of anyone who encounters our methods. One of the main problems I see with people who are trying to accomplish their goals, is that they think too big. In any plan or goal there are intricate steps to getting to the result. While the big picture is important, that focus does not prepare you to accomplish the steps that it takes to get to the big picture. WTD will make you addicted to goal setting/accomplishing by having you practice each day. Win The Day shifts focus from big picture to daily goals that will ensure that the big picture is accomplished.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I actually have my brother flying into Texas for the first time this week so this question is fitting. Houston is the best city because no matter what you are looking for, Houston has it to offer. Some of my favorite eats are Bodega’s Taco Shop, Breakfast Klub, Green Seed, Wing Quarter, Ray’s BBQ, and Vegan Soul Food. Drinking spots varies depending what music I want to listen to. Drink spots: Address, Prospect Park, Pour Behavior, Bodega’s Taco Shop, Cafe Layal, Seaside, and Lost & Found. I love to hang out at Hermann Park, Memorial Park, or anywhere outside. Houston has all the scenes you need.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shout out goes out to my mother for instilling in me the value of hard work, perseverance, and diligence. My mother raised me all by herself and I saw her working hard to make ends meet and provide for us. She is the most hard working person I know. I do all that I do so that I can provide for my future family and pay my mom back for everything she has done for me. My second shout out is to my line brother, Ethien Morales, who told me what I NEEDED to hear, not what I WANTED to hear. During my undergrad, he talked to me about how he felt about me and how he never thought I would be successful until I followed through with my plans. I needed that hard cut criticism. He did not sugar coat it, he told me straight up and a lot of who I am today would not be here today if that conversation was not had. So thank you to both of those people in my life.
