We had the good fortune of connecting with John Papasideris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe the important factor is the quality of work and craftsmanship I put into every shoe I design and make. Another aspect is to continue to experiment with different materials and methods of creating a design.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart is that I’m local Houstonian born and raised and I just love this city. I also am not afraid to try different techniques and combine them when designing/customizing sneakers. One of the biggest challenges is getting the exposure and growing your customer base. Now there are so many digital avenues you have to keep up with that getting your name out there is easy but the challenge is constantly coming up with products and having that technology be up to date. All these are especially a challenge since I’m a company of one, along with designing and crafting my customs shoes I have to act as my own tech, advertisement and customer service departments. What I want the world to know about JPOPS Customs is that it is a company where quality and customer service is priority one!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Places to eat: I’m a big foodie so I like local spots like Niko Nikos, a small Mexican restaurant called Juarez Places to check out: I’d say the museums in the museum district, all of the cultural festivals like the Greek Festival, the Houston zoo is always a great place to visit and your big outlet malls like the Galleria. Or Houston being such a big and diverse city just spend the day just driving around different areas of the city itself even the local colleges and universities are a great place to see and visit.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends have always had my back and supported me in my endeavors, they mean the world to me and without them I would never would have been a success.
