We had the good fortune of connecting with Johnathan Mark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Johnathan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After discovering that my wife and I were expecting our first child, the need for additional income and legacy planning was more urgent than ever! We went on the path to create an experience that combined my passion for Houston Hip-Hop, intimate celebrations, and being “outside”.

Trill On Wheels sat perfectly at the intersection of those core passions and after a year of planning and prepping, we launched to a reception that we never imagined! We’ve sold out every single week since launch with no signs of slowing down soon. Tours are booked months out at this point, God is definitely showing out!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Here in Houston and across many major cities across the country, we’ve seen a lack of unique options for celebrating life’s biggest moments. The options that are available tend to leave Black & Brown consumers out of the conversation or we’re pushed to the default option of spending our night surrounded by strangers at the club.

With social anxiety affecting over 15 million Americans (many of those being African-American) and COVID making enclosed areas less appealing, the need for more personalized and intimate celebratory experiences was needed more than ever.

This is where Trill On Wheels enters the conversation. We’re the world’s first Hip-Hop Party Bike. Blending the legacies of Pimp C, DJ Screw, and Megan Thee Stallion, with Houston Nightlife and light fitness. Our riders get to celebrate their biggest moments with a BYOB party, hip-hop trivia, trap karaoke and dive into Houston’s unique music culture right here in Historic Third Ward.

It’s been a wild ride so far with too many challenges to name as we navigate this industry with no roadmap. But the demand is stronger than ever imagined, our operations are exceptional, and our tour experience is unmatched. It’s only up from here!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
At Trill On Wheels, we’re huge fans of celebrating everything Third Ward. The rich history, beautiful architecture, and thriving black community filled with unique shops and places to hang out make our neighborhood a proud place to call home!

For drinks or a proper night out on the town, we love to hang out at Bar 5015, The Savoy, and Faces. When we’re ready to eat, it’s hard to beat Chunky’s Chicken, The Turkey Leg Hut, and Frenchy’s Chicken. To burn all those calories off, we’ll hit up The Spot or D-Bar for a true Third Ward experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up on the Southside of Houston, DJ Screw and the Screwed Up Click had a major influence on the sound of the city and has given us all a sense of hometown pride. I’m most definitely a “Screwhead” so creating this type of experience that pays direct homage to my hip-hop heroes means the world to me!
