We had the good fortune of connecting with Jorden Dolan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jorden, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We help our community by buying many of our ingredients from local farms, ranches and other small businesses. By putting the money directly into the pockets of locals, instead of large corporations, we are supporting a smaller and more seasonal food system !

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Savory Events, is an organic, luxury catering brand based in The Woodlands, TX. I started this company in 2015, when my daughter was about to start Kindergarten. As a single mom, working 60 – 80 hours a week in the luxury hotel business just wasn’t going to work anymore ! I knew I needed to find a way to spend more time available to be a mom, but didn’t want to give up my love of cooking and the hospitality industry.

While I had spent many years in the kitchen, I knew very little about how to manage events as a whole – event rentals, decor, timelines, etc… This was the biggest learning curve for me when I started catering, and I have learned many valuable, hard lessons along the way ! I am proud to say that I am now deeply involved in every aspect of every planning for our clients 🙂

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Not being from Texas originally, I am still discovering SO many amazing places here ! But my list of essentials when people come to visit are currently as follows:

Morning walks along the Woodlands Waterway, it’s such a beautiful place to walk + talk

Lunch at Goode Co Cantina – for the beef fajitas + a cadillac margarita !

Shopping at Market Street – even just window shopping

Paddleboarding on Lake Woodlands

Happy Hour at Sixty Vines – order the cheese + charcuterie board (they slice to order!)

Wander around Hughes Landing – walk the plank walk and check out all the ducks !

Dinner at Fish Camp – get the seafood tower and the Fish Camp Punch 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my wonderful daughter Jade !! I would not be here today without her, she shaped my entire world and pushes me every day to be a better mom and business owner 🙂
