We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh & Samantha Wilmeth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh & Samantha, what is the most important factor behind your success?
No matter what type of session someone books with us (maternity, engagements, weddings, etc.) our main goal is to capture their story. Every session has its own special purpose and we want to convey that through our photography. That’s why we spend a little time before our sessions getting to know our clients. Having even a small a relationship like this helps our clients feel more comfortable around us – we’re able to tell stories; joke around; and have fund during our sessions. Because of this, we’re able to capture candid and genuine photos which are a true representation of their personalities and stories. I believe this has, and will always, lead to success for All Things Love Photography.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Q: Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about.

A: Samantha and I specialize in lifestyle photography. It’s a unique form of photography which isn’t like the conventional staged photos our parents made us take when we were younger (though yes parents: we take those for you too haha). We try to capture genuine moments and life how it truly happens. Instead of posing every aspect of our photos, we plan our shoots based on a theme that will naturally create perfect moments for our clients.

You’d be surprised by how natural most of our photos come – whether it’s sweet little whispers; laughing at an awkward joke or comment; or even just a simple hug between our clients, we’re always so excited when we capture those times that just simply make us smile.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
HOUSTON!!! We love our city and the culture within it. There are so many things to do and see here, but I think our favorite by far is checking out new restaurants. In our opinion, the food scene here is unparalleled. There are so many types of food and quality restaurants here, it’s unreal.

From Tex-Mex to Hot Pot to Korean-Mexican fusion taco trucks – We have it all. A couple of our favorite go-to’s are the Mi-So Hot Ramen at Ramen Tatsuya; Kimchi Fries at OhMyGogi; Dumplings at Golden Dumpling House; Pho at Huynh; and taquitos at Taquerias Arandas. The list could go on and on, but those by far are our favorites.

Aside from food, we do love our Astros. There’s no better way to spend a Friday night then hanging out at Pitch 25, getting some wings and drinks before the game, walking over to Minute Maid, and watching our Astros win followed by some Friday night fireworks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a lot of credit to my caring wife: Samantha. I consider her the major reason that All Thing Love Photography launched earlier this year.

Sometime during the start of the pandemic, she noticed I was watching a lot of YouTube videos about photography and asked why that was. I told her I’d always been interested in it and she knew I had a passion for it since I was always taking iPhone photos of her, her friends, landscapes, architecture, etc. She then followed up with the question: Well, why don’t you take photos professionally?.

I suppose there was always some subconscious doubt within myself which was always holding me back. I had fears that people wouldn’t appreciate my photos; that people would say I didn’t have talent; and ultimately: A fear that I would fail. I talked with her about those feelings and it really helped me cope with the fact that most people feel like that when they start something new. I could go on about plenty of conversations we had about these insecurities, but in the end her love and support helped me to have the confidence to do what I do today and we’ve loved every second of it since!
