Meet Jovita Johnson | Business Development Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jovita Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jovita, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started CreativeCo. Lab to be a service to entrepreneurs in Houston. I began in entrepreneurship over ten years ago, and I knew absolutely nothing. I researched as much as Google would allow, it wasn’t as fruitful as it is now. I was working with a small budget and could only afford free information. I stumbled my way through a few businesses over the years learning along the way. Today, I know the importance of having a strong business foundation, using business credit to fund my business, and investing in myself through continued development.

I know how hard it is to start a business, and I started CreativeCo. Lab to be a community for new and aspiring entrepreneurs. I believe that everyone should own a business and encourage all to try. I want to make it as easy as possible to start your business and avoid the mistakes that I’ve made.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
CreativeCo. Lab is dedicated to entrepreneurship; every aspect of my company is to benefit local business owners. From networking to advertising, each division is a piece of the community pie.

I co-host a weekly podcast, Next Level Blueprint, with my friend and fellow business owner, Shannise. We talk about our experiences in entrepreneurship our failures and successes. We also interview local leaders in their industry to give tips and techniques that can be applied at any level of entrepreneurship. I also host networking and vendor markets throughout Houston. These events connect business owners with each other as well as the community. Moving into the new year, I will be adding advertising services that will be unique to the area. I’m excited about being the only company in Houston to provide this service.

I have had many businesses since I started my journey, and I have made plenty of mistakes. From it all I have learned how important it is to invest in yourself, never stop learning. Now, I invest in courses, conferences, and books. The importance of continued education is embedded in CeativeCo. Lab’s mission.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a laid back personality with a love for free, Miller Outdoor Theater always has an entertaining movie. Maybe a quick trip to Brenham to enjoy a wine tour. Or stay in the city and check out a distillery here like Whitmeyer’s. We’d definitely have to visit Houston Grub Park, best food in the city.

This is dedicated to everyone who supported me with a like, share, DM, comment, purchase, or referral. To my number four, always down for the cause. And especially to my son (and his son and his son’s son.) They are my motivation and my legacy.
