Meet Joylin James Giles | Hairstylist, Master Wig Artist , & Raw Hair Supplier

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joylin James Giles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joylin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business as a hobby but then it became something I loved and an extra income for me to take care of my daughter. My only thought was stay patient, stay consistent, and practice.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a self taught hairstylist, master wig artist, and raw hair supplier. I don’t really work with natural hair but I cater to those who wear weaves and wigs. I got to where at am today by not giving up ! Even when I seen others doing better and had people bring me down I still remained focused on the bigger picture. It was not easy , I took many loses to get to where I am and I’m still learning and taking lose, I can’t lose faith. I want the world , especially young black women that you can do WHATEVER YOU PUT YOUR MIND TOO. It may seem hard and you may have a few bumps in the road but focus on the prize. You will get there !

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area I would first of course bring her to my professional suite to get her hair and nails done. Take her to maybe the Galleria mall to get some nice outfits. There are many nice restaurants in Midtown were we could eat and drink and the city is beautiful at night. Lastly, we will most likely go to visit a nice club or lounge to listen to great music and dance.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout-out to my family, my friends, and my supporters on social media because they are who push me to keep going , even on my bad days. I love and appreciate them so much for that.
