We had the good fortune of connecting with Judith Caballero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Judith, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Absolutely, I have two favorite quotes, one in English & one in Spanish. Starting with the one in English my favorite quote is, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always be where you have always been” This serves me as a self note that you must be uncomfortable to grow, you can’t keep doing the same things you’ve always done if you’re not already in the place you want to be. If I never change, nothing else will either. Second in Spanish is, “lo que se siembra se cosecha” / “You reap what you sow” Figuratively to me it means that what I dedicate my time and efforts into is what will grow for me. As someone who likes to garden I also take it quite literally, it takes constant nurture & patience to see your hard work blossom. Remember you don’t get to plant your seed & harvest it the same day too!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Licensed Esthetician & Acne Specialist, i believe what sets me apart from others is my excitement, my continuous education & my dedication. I want everyone in my treatment room to leave feeling more confident & certain they’re educated in their skin. That keeps me on my toes, How can I make myself more knowledgeable? What new beneficial information can my client take home from their visit with me? I enjoy building relationships with those who walk into my treatment room. Getting to where I am in my career has been everything but easy and that in itself has taught me valuable lessons. I’ve learned that this career is something I love and I am willing to work hard for. I’ve also seen that in this career it is very easy to give up. It’s important to take note of everything you’ve achieved so far, sometimes we’re so worried about what’s next on our list we’ve forgotten to enjoy where we’re at. Dear reader, I want you to remember you are a human, don’t be hard on yourself and love yourself through the journey whatever your journey might be, and with that being said; don’t let acne dictate your life. Our skin is our largest organ, let’s stop hating it & let’s start understanding it instead.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
With all of Houston’s new spots, it’s so hard to fit it all! Downtown is a must, we can go to the Japanese Garden or POST HTX. Eat some wings or some crawfish! Hot yoga to forget all that food we ate the night before and we can either end the weekend with Rooftop Cinema Club or maybe a nice game of bowling with some side Margaritas!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe my support team everything, without them helping me either physically or mentally, things would have been way harder. Special shout out to My Parents, Ernesto & Marlene, for being my safety net & giving me the resources to be risky in my career. My siblings Vanessa & Jason who have both helped in significantly valuable ways & continue doing so. Of course my boyfriend Manuel, Thank you for listening to me cry and vent so many times and still not letting me give up not one single time. For pushing me, uplifting me and reminding me of all the growth I had already acquired. Lastly, To my friend, Morgan; who introduced me to the world of esthetics & has been a great help throughout my journey.
Things haven’t always been smooth sailing, but with all of them the waves aren’t as harsh 🙂
