We had the good fortune of connecting with Jumper Maybach and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jumper, what do you attribute your success to?
The Jumper Maybach brand is built on the idea that art can be a vehicle to spread love, end hate and intolerance. It stems from my own personal healing and transformation but goes far beyond just myself. Themes of positivity, perseverance and overcoming adversity weave throughout my work. Whether you own an original piece of art or one of my prints or products, everything is designed to bring joy to the viewer.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My unique artistic style and approach has driven my career since coming onto the scene over 15 years ago. I strive to create art that not only stimulates the senses but also provokes thought and emotion. My use of vibrant colors and bold imagery sets me apart from others in the art world, allowing me to carve out a distinct niche for myself.

One aspect I’m most proud of and excited about is the impact my art has had on people’s lives. My motto is to spread love and watch hate and intolerance disappear. Whether it’s sparking conversations about mental health, promoting LGBTQ+ rights, or simply bringing joy and inspiration to viewers, knowing that my work resonates with others on a deep level is incredibly fulfilling.

My journey to where I am today professionally has been marked by dedication, passion, and resilience. I’ve spent years honing my craft, experimenting with different techniques and styles, and never shying away from pushing boundaries. Along the way, I’ve faced challenges and setbacks, but I’ve always remained focused on my vision and determined to succeed. Through hard work, perseverance, and a willingness to take risks, I’ve been able to establish myself as a respected artist in the industry, with my work being exhibited in galleries and collections around the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many wonderful places to experience in Houston! We would start out with a nice coffee or cappuccino at The West End, then perhaps a bike ride through Memorial Park or a stroll through the Houston Arboretum…Then we’d have to visit the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, The Contemporary Art Museum Houston, The Art League of Houston, the Lawndale Center, and The Jung Center of Houston – all terrific!

Some of our favorite restaurants include:

Federal American Grill – David and I have been going to Mathew Brice’s restaurant for more than 15 years now. The food is Americana with a fine dining flare.

Songkran Thai Kitchen – The best Thai food in Houston. The patio dining is the place to be when you are within the Uptown Park area of the Galleria Area.

Pasha Turkish Restaurant – This restaurant is within walking distance of our home and is a place of solitude and great Turkish food.

Cafe Ginger – You can’t get better Chinese food than this.

Tony’s – Some say this is a place to be seen. For us, it’s for great food. True, a celebrity or a billionaire or two can be spotted at times but food is what brings everyone in.

Amando’s – This is another place to go to be seen but again I have known Armando Palacios since the 1980’s when his restaurant had no name on it. You knew of it by word of mouth only. You had to know Amando to get in so you felt special. I was introduced to him by another regular customer. That is how it worked. It is the best Tex Mex food in Houston. The days of no name on the building have long gone by. The name is proudly on the building and is very successful. Everyone is accepted and given a sense of being family when there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
David Sanford, MD my spouse of 32 years who has been my anchor through the ups and downs of my life and supporting me in the Jumper Maybach pursuits. Pepe Serna, a Hollywood actor who I met in Dubai and has become a close friend and supporter of me.
Alan De Herrera, the Hollywood film director who brought my story into film and has become a close friend and supporter of my art endeavors.
Michael Kirsch, the videographer who understood the need to create a powerful story of my life and is a friend for life.
Daniel Zamora, who through the years has stepped up to the challenges in making my world in the arts a better place to be.
