We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn French and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaitlyn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been restless with following status quo. I come from a family of entrepreneurs and leaders and felt the need to contribute as it relates to being on a team as well as the need to lead something of my own. I am motivated to see how this process of taking an idea and putting into action has worked for me. It is thrilling to see my thoughts come to paper and now to print.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
By trade I have a Bachelor’s degree and a slew of experiences in Supply Chain Management, as a function. I love this part of me. I have also always loved talking, writing, expressing myself. Becoming an author was somewhat sudden but feels so right! I joined the SCBWI as a professional organization to help me in the process. Get involved in anything if it interests you and things will unfold! I am so thankful to have gone through this experience. It makes me excited to continue to write.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start with a trip to commonbond bakery for coffee and breakfast. Afterwards we would vintage shop at the Guild and drive Montrose. Following, in true Italian fashion, I would be planning our next meal which would probably be a California Connection sandwich at Central Market. We would shop Highland village for sure and end one of the nights at North Italia for pasta and a glass (or 2) of Le Volte! I would have to give them the River oaks tour, maybe a trip to the Natural Museum of Science or the scenic Houston Zoo and my favorites Lupe Tortilla (Margs and fajitas) and Barnabys (breakfast) would be must stops on the list. Shopping and food would be my itinerary for the week!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom, dad, sister, husband, daughters and extended family have all made me who I am today. Along with the support of my friends in Cypress, Texas have been life changing.
