We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaleigh Meyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaleigh, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Before starting Sissy the Photo Camper I worked full time as an elementary teacher. I would come home after a full day at school and would continue lesson planning, researching, and creating new activities for my students. After having a baby in February of 2021, I knew the pressure of being “the perfect teacher” would not be achievable with my sweet boy waiting on me at home. I decided to resign from teaching after the 2020-2021 schoolyear. Taking care of my little family is my number one job. However, I now spend my “free”/baby’s nap time running my two small businesses – Sissy the Photo Camper, a vintage photo booth camper, and POP! BTX, a balloon garland and rental company. There are definitely busier days where my time and attention has to be focused more on my businesses than playing with my one year old, but the balance towards life is way greater than on work. I truly believe that my ability to focus on my family and our lives will make a great impact on my son as he grows up.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Sissy the Photo Camper is a vintage camper that was renovated in the Fall of 2021 into a fully functioning photo booth camper. We are not your ordinary photo booth, nor are we your ordinary photo booth camper. “Sissy” allows for an intimate photo booth experience unlike your stand alone photo booths. Guests may enter into the camper with all their best friends to enjoy a much more private photo booth session. Another bonus – we can customize your entire photo booth experience from the photo booth start screen to interior and exterior decor.

Be memorable. I have made so many new friends attending events – from fellow vendors to the clients themselves. I believe that the ability to be friendly and personable is a great asset for success. I take my work very seriously and strive for perfection no matter what type of event I’m attending.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family had a HUGE part in helping me start up and continue to run my businesses. My dad, David, helped me complete the renovations on the vintage camper. When I say “my dad helped me”, I really mean that he did 99.9% of the renovation work as I continued designing the camper and branding my business. My mom, Kim, had a huge hand as well by helping to watch my son while we worked on the camper and the continual words of encouragement when times were not looking so bright. Also, a huge shoutout to my sister, Maddy! She is my go to gal for all things social media and marketing. And last, but not least a big thanks to my husband, Riley, for all his support and help throughout the entire process.
