We had the good fortune of connecting with Karina Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karina, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
There has been many times where I wanted to give up, but I knew I hadn’t given my 100% yet, so I knew I had to keep pushing and prove to myself that I could achieve my goals. Sometimes our own thoughts can be our worst enemy, but we must not let that intervene in our success. I knew being a business owner wouldn’t be easy, but don’t give up on something you want, if you have not given it your 100% or done everything possible to get where you want to be. Not everyone wants to see you do good, you will have people envy things you have or do, but that is how you know you are doing a great job. I’ve learned never to let anyone’s negative opinions or thoughts, doubt how far you have come. I’m a big believer in “what’s meant for you will be for you.” God has a plan for you.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Becoming a Lash Tech was not my first choice. When I began the service, I believed It was just going to be a hobby, something that would be my plan B in life. Little did I know it was going to become my plan A, Something I enjoyed & loved. My family has always had their own businesses, Seeing my family run their business inspired and motivated me to be my own boss. I love what I do because I get to transform someone into something even more beautiful, but not only that, also giving someone that confidence they need. Believe it or not but, Lashes really can boost someones self esteem. I’m just glad I’m able to do that for others. Throughout these 5 years of lashing/ owning a small business I’ve learned that sometimes we have to get out of our comfort zone to succeed and to never let others discourage you, also I’ve learned that stepping on others success will not make you more successful.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie came to visit and she want to do something more laidback I’d recommend us go to Color factory, Top Golf or Baybrook outdoor shops and restaurants. We can do a nice Brunch at Glorias, then after walk to Sweet Paris for some crepe’s and Maybe do some shopping after. If it was a laidback night there at the shops ,we could do Dave & Busters and go across for some dinner and drinks at Bar louie, maybe even have a little adventure after to Kemah and visit Voodoo hut. Now if she wanted to do a Party night life I’d recommend going to midtown or Washington st bars. Then for a Sunday funday maybe start Brunch at Pour behavior, Clutch, or Sporting club. After doing brunch we’d bar hop to the bars in Washington st, like Bottle Blonde, Standard, lincoln, & etc.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Many people have had a big impact in this part of my life. I would first like to thank my parents Hugo Garcia & Sonia Garcia for always being supportive and encouraging me to never give up, as well as my sisters Kate, Sonia & bestie Danielle. I’d like to thank all my cousins, they have always helped and encouraged me throughout this path. I have too many cousins to name, but they know who they are! Of course my tias who started it all for me. Without my tias, I would not have gone through this path in the first place. Not sure where I’d be now without all their guidance and help. Thank you all family, friends and clients for your support & pushing me to do better! I love you all!
