We had the good fortune of connecting with Kash Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kash, what do you attribute your success to?
Being authentic and true to myself. I pride myself on not only providing exceptional customer service but also educating my clients on proper hair care practices. Too often stylists do not want to give away their “secrets” when it comes to hair care/styling. I like to walk my clients through the process to make them more comfortable and knowledgeable about what works for their hair.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I left an hourly salon job at the beginning of the pandemic, after being burnt out working 10-12 hour shifts and not having time for my family. I worked shortly at a mom & pop salon and quickly realized that that was not the place for me. So on a whim, I decided to throw myself out there and start my own brand. So April 2021, I opened my own salon with my business partner Renee. It’s been nothing short of amazing since then. I pride myself on educating my clients on proper haircare and maintenance. We as stylist can only do so much when the clients are in the chair. What counts is what happens beyond the salon. I also want to bring back the old school salon experience but with an upscale factor. I’m not a fan of double booking. From the consultation to the shampoo and styling, each client should have their own personal relaxing experience.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The city has blossomed with so many different eateries and coffee shops. The Pearl brewery has nice restaurants and a farmers market on the weekends. BB’s Tex-Orleans and Sangria on the burg are my go to places for a nice brunch or a brainstorming session with my goal friends.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My tribe! My husband and children. They are my biggest cheerleaders. I also have a circle of goal friends that I have the privilege to bounce ideas off of, brain storm and create goals with.
