We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathy Adibe, Esq. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kathy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew it was inevitable I would eventually work for myself, it was a matter of taking the leap of faith and starting my practice as a green attorney. I had a vision of success that I planned to achieve after each year as a solo practitioner and I made sure I set realistic goals for myself to achieve. I was nervous at first, but once I emerged myself in the learning field, I built confidence and gained experience.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the managing attorney of Adibe Law Group LLC and I practice law in the areas of personal injury, criminal defense, and new construction real estate. What’s interesting about my practice is it is virtual: I meet with my clients on video or phone calls. I keep my expenses low and my profits high. This pandemic has taught me that businesses are expendable and the adverse effects of the pandemic does not discriminate. One thing I implement with my practice is making sure my client’s needs come first. If they need to speak directly with me, I’m hopping on the phone. My law practice is all about being personable.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have plenty of spots to go to its too many to name! But we would definitely go to Trinity African Bar and Grill and eat Jollof rice with grilled fish. We would also stop at Tropical Smoothie Cafe and get an Acai Berry Boost smoothie. As big as Houston is, I’m a home body so I’d call it a day after those stops!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout my family for supporting my journey. They have seen me start my business from the ground up and have contributed in all ways possible to make sure Adibe Law Group could thrive. I would also like to give a shoutout to my fiancé, Ekene. We literally met at the beginning of this journey and he has contributed to the growth of my business by offering countless ideas on expanding my practice and how to take it to the next level and I’m so appreciative of the overwhelming support.
