We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathy Quemba and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kathy, what do you attribute your success to?
Success is very subjective for me, I feel that one is successful when one feels successful, not when other people see you as successful. I believe that success is in feeling good about yourself, feel like you’re doing things right and feel happy every day.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It all started when I was very little, I always painted and I loved creating things with my hands until I got to college and that’s where I started studying arts and graphic design. Since then art, photography and design have been an empirical process in my life. I have always been a creative person, I always loved to transform things and put that unique and special touch on them. I feel that in my entire process it is very important to know how to tell a story and communicate that message that you want to convey to people because the big changes are generated by those small differences that make us different and unique from others. Nowadays I feel that it is very difficult to be able to maintain a brand because we are so saturated and there are so many brands that people do not want more, but if you manage to stay true to yourself, expressing your message, people will feel identified and will like what you do, what you sell and your entire process, because people want to know you and see the process behind of designs and photography. I would tell everyone to learn to live with the beauty of the imperfect, because perfection doesnt exist. Perfection is living and observing the unique details that make each human being different from another.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the magic of travel, wandering, finding wild and unknown places. I love knowing new places, looking at the space. I love to see what others only see, that is why I love to travel because from there I am inspired by architecture, textures, colors, food, among others, then I take those things as inspiration to create, to build a story behind each piece, photograph or work that I do, in this way it helps me to build the DNA of my brand. It is very important for me what I transmit to a woman because through my brand, I seek to generate a change and transmit a message.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All those people with whom I have had the pleasure of meeting and working along my way, because I know that they are identifying with my work, with my message and seeing that it generates some kind of sensation in them, feeling all that love and support is a mission accomplished for me.
