We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Stevens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelly, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I think work life balance isn’t achieved unless you actively put forward an effort to achieve it. It can be easy to get swept up in the many roles we play in our lives whether it be motherhood, daughter, partner, employee, employer … etc. Work life balance for me is making time for myself while also managing the other roles in my life. Last year I focused a lot on work. This year I’ve dedicated more time to travel and just enjoy my fruit of labor. I’ve even planned a solo cruise just to focus on me, unwind a little, and just take my mind off of the world for a little while. The balance for me is definitely a work in progress and it is something I am mindful of.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally I am employed with Verizon Wireless as a Solutions Specialist. At work I do a little bit of everything from financial advising to sales. Overall I work with people with an excellent foundation in customer service. I’ve worked at several different locations and learned to handle a variety of demographics. I take pride in my performance level at work and once I mastered that, I was looking for my next venture. What inspired Yoni Dior was my love for natural remedies. I’ve dealt with feminine issues in the past and found some treatments that have personally worked for me. When I like something, I can become quite convincing. I became an ambassador for a product that I wasn’t mine. It was only natural for me to create a business that offers something that I use and believe in. Yoni Pearls were my original product. They are a concoction of all natural herbs that help regulate your menstrual cycle. They are also a natural antibacterial which rids you of ailments such as yeast infections, BV and PCOS. They remove blockage that cause infertility and more.
The road to success is an ongoing struggle. You’re constantly thinking how you can make things better. No it isn’t easy, but the key is just to keep going. Everything is a learning experience. What I want the world to know about Yoni Dior is that it stands for all lifestyles of women of all ages and race. To have a yoni is the basis of womanhood and all women should have access to affordable holistic women’s healthcare
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take her to this nice Caribbean spot on 1960 and Red Oak called the Jamaican Hot Pot. They have the best Curry chicken ! The whole week we would eat at different black owned food places so she can really see the culture we have here in Houston. We got to make sure we hit up the Greasy Spoon for the oxtails. SO GOOD ! We can chill at the park, go shopping, and show her what everyday life is like here for Houstonians. For the Night Life, I would take her to The Address which is a nice sports bar that also serves great food.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely like to shoutout my friend Quizanae Cooper, owner of Mink Mink Co Inc for inspiring me to get back into business. She has encouraged me every step of the way.
